I'm tring to figure out why people buy those costly pet store puppies.
So how many people out there would buy a puppy they like when they see it? pet store or ad
How many people whould wait a few months to years to get a pup from show breeders?
I personally want a pup from show lines because I will know what to exspect and waiting a year or so won't kill me.
Please no post about adopting shelter dogs.
I do work at a shelter but I want a mastiff puppy a well bred one, and many other employees there also own purebred dogs, two of them show.

My dog has two terrible hot spots. She's had them for about 6-7 months. I know that's not good. I've been trying to help them heal with almost everything. From neosporin, hydrogen peroxide, Bag Balm, cortisone (SP) cream, to aloe. I've bangaged it up with all of those (if I don't, she'll just lick the stuff off). The hot spots are on her tail. And the last time I put a bandage on her, she chewed ANOTHER hot spot just above the first one (now she has two)! I don't know what do do. It bothers me that I can't help her. My parents "can't" (more like: don't want to waste money) take her to the vet. I want to be a vet when I get out of school. But she hasn't been to the vet in a few years (I know, I know....that's not good). But My mom promised me that we could take her this year....but so far that promise has turned into a lie....What can I do??? I care a lot about my dog, and don't want anything to happen to her. PLEASE HELP!!!

My 7 year old son was outside playing yesterday when the neighbour's St Bernard (unchained) rushed at him. My son took off running (he was really scared) and the dog chased after him and managed to bite his scalp and his shoulder. My son is very small for his age so when the dog ran into him, he fell on some rocks in the backyard and scraped himself up pretty good. The bruise on his leg is worse today than it was yesterday although we treated it right away.
He was never gushing blood or anything and I managed to control all bleeding etc so a trip to the emerg was not needed. The dog is never on a leash and roams the neighbourhood freely. The dog pound has been called before by other neighbours but the dog was never taken away. I called the guy out immediately and he saw what his dog did. He asked if I wanted him to clean up the blood. My hubby went over after and was told that they were building a fence to keep the dog in. I'm troubled. They seem okay with what's happened.

Ellen Degeneres gave her dog to her hairdresser. Mutts and Moms rescue sent the police to remove the dog (Iggy) from the hairdresser's home. Are there any more updates anywhere? People are unable to access the rescue's web site.

I have a chocolate lab, who is almost 12 weeks old and I have had her well over a month now and she still cannot sleep through the night without having to go out and go potty in the middle of the night! Everyone I have talked to said she should be able to sleep through the night now, and to just leave her and ignore her but she has to poop in the middle of the night. It's not just going out to go pee. And the last time I just ignored her she pooped in her kennel even though the kennel is so small there is no extra corners to poop in. She will poop then just lay in it!!!!!
She does not have anything to eat after 5 pm and no water after 8 pm and she goes out her last time at 10 pm then wakes up between 1 am and 3 am having to go out to poop then wakes up again when I get up at 6 am.
What am I doing wrong? We also started to use the bitter apple spray to discipline her from barking but it does not seem to be working.
Help?

I have a lab/boxer mix that steals. Her mother and sister live next door and she goes over and plays. The problem is she steals from the neighbors. Dog toys, their children's toys, vegtables from gardens, apples from the porch, and more. She has brought home shoes, socks, baseball caps, tool kits, newspapers, gloves, and more. I hate to fence her in, because she does like to play and the neighbors love her, but obviously that would be a solution.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get her to stop, other than fence?

If the potential owner has experience with training/handling some dominant dogs, what would be a good medium - large size breed for his first dog?

Please do not say Golden/Lab Retriever. I know they're great dogs, but I would like to hear some other ideas.

Yes, they are on the furniture and often play by jumping on or off the furniture.

If You were able to Hear Mutts & Moms side of the Story, do you think more attitudes would be changed?

Being Involed in Rescue Myself, My first instinct was to side with the Rescue. I agree that DeGeneres was wrong in placing that pup in a home without contacting the Rescue. But DeGeneres has the Media to give her side of the story, thus making 95% of the population on her side. They both did wrong. Mutts & Moms should have handled it differently to avoid the publicity this is causing, and giving rescue (All Rescue) a bad name.
And DeGeneres should have Adhered to the Agreement she Signed. DeGeneres is where she is, because of Signing Contracts.
I hope this doesn't keep people from adopting a needy pet, rather than a Puppy Mill baby.
All this could have been avoided, with a little common Sense & Tact.

What color are they, are they microscopic or can you see them? I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I've lived most of my life at a really high altitude where fleas aren't common.

I have a 4month old Lab/Mastiff mix. She digs these huge craters (I call them graves LOL). She doesn't do one at time but rather has several going at one time. She doesn't every lay in them to cool off and does it even if it is cold outside, she mainly digs around the edge of the patio but also in the middle of the yard, she does it regardless of the length of time in the backyard. We both work & she has to be outside while we are at work. It's 6 hours outside Monday-Thursday. (We're home with her on the weekends.) She has food & water & a lot of toys. She gets a long walk every other day and we play fetch constantly. Any ideas?

The whole Ellen DeGeneres dog situation makes me think "rescue" groups are not at all about rescuing dogs and giving them homes. If I give a dog a home I want to know I;m the dogs owner and I can make decisons that I feel are best for the dog without worrying that the "rescue" group will constantly be checking up on me and might try ot take my dog if I do something against their liking. And, lets not forget, "rescue" groups charge a hefty sum for their "rescue" dogs. What is you opinion about these groups?

Ok I have decided to take a little break from Daily Bark and I am going to be posting them on and off.
Due to rudeness and idiots on here I have lost interest in Yahoo Answers.
Daily Dog Photo: http://www.mydogneeds.com/dog-groups/toy-dogs/chihuahua.jpg
Topic for today: Dogs and Tv
Does your dog watch tv with you?
Is he attracted to a specific show?
When dogs watch other dogs on tv it does not really mean he is attracted to the dog because well its just another dog but he's more attracted to the movement.

Knowledge and personal experiences are welcome!
