My French Bulldog is now going on 3 years old. I wasn't aware earlier in her life before her 1st heat cycle that I should have gotten her fixed. Well I keep putting it off because it cost so much through my Vet. Everyone keeps telling me to go to SPCA or PETA but I am scared that they won't take as good of care as her Vet will. I need some advice on what to do, or success stories that would make me feel better!?

My three and a half year old chocolate labrador has always eaten EVERYTHING and never been fussy. But the one thing I can't get him to eat is the dog wormer, the one thing which will do him good. We have a pantomime everytime and I always have to feed him extra dog food and wrap up the wormer in toast so that he eventually eats it, but it always takes us a few days till he's finished it. anyway last time the vet mentioned a wormer that looked like chocolate and so we got that and he ate it easily! We thought we'd found the solution.......but now we have just got him this months wormer and he will not touch it. How can we get over this problem? Labs are renowned for eating everything, why does he turn his nose up at this one thing?

If you heard about Ellen's fight with a dog she adopted, What is your take on it. She adopted a small dog that didn't get along with her cat, & she gave it to her hairdresser. When the agency found out, they took the dog back. The family is devasted. They loved the dog. I didn't know this law existed. Now I'm torn. I know Ellen wouldn't give a dog to just anyone, she knew this family very well. So What would you do? Thanks for the input

My dog started what seemed like labor tuesday at 8:30am she had clear fluid coming from her vulva. She seemed like she was having some slight contractions. About 2 hours later they stopped. About 10:30 that night she started again until 2:00am. Wednesday all day she was fine. Now at 4:00am seems she is doing it again. She has been eating, drinking, normal temp, playing, everything. She also is having a hard time licking her vulva she is so big! Please help? What is going on, I have never seen anything like it. Also, I considered trying feathering. Let me know what you think! Thank you

"Eating raw bones is as completely natural as eating fresh meat for dogs and cats. They come hand in hand, in the wild. Both dogs and cats are natural hunters, cats always eating their food fresh, and dogs happy to eat fresh, or decaying. Either way, catching and eating prey has always involved the consumption of bones."
http://www.ozpets.com.au/articles/397/FeedingrawbonestoCats.html
"Myth: BONES ARE DANGEROUS AND HAVE NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE.
Cooked bones are quite dangerous. Cooking changes the structure of the bone, making it indigestible and easily splinterable. Raw bones rarely splinter and are fully digestible, even the collagen proteins that some people claim are "indigestible." It is mostly the byproducts of the digested bone that form the bulk of a raw-fed animal's feces. Dogs and cats do not need the fiber from grains and vegetables, and feeding such foods only results in the big, soft, malodorous stools everyone complains about."

hi all. i just wanted to know what's wrong with my dog because her genital area is swollen. at first, i thought it was her period because i saw blood come out of it. my neighbor tells me i need to take her to the vet because what my dog has isn't normal and that she can die from it. i mean, i did notice that she's bleeding an awful lot lately n when she urinates, it has a strong fishy smell. so fro anyone who's reading this, does anyone know what's wrong with her or will she really die from this? thanks.

I'll go back and look at all the answers, I find it informative, and it never fails that I have a thumbs down and some questions are as simple as... Help naming a female puppy?! I mean it's just an oppinion! Anyone else have someone stupid that does this to them? I posted this here, b/c this is usually where I answer most questions.

Its pouring down rain here and the wind is blowing. He is being treated by our vet for kennel cough. She seemed pretty sure he would get over this in the next couple days. He has been really sick. I just took him out to pee and now he is snoring loudly. He is sound sleeping, but I have never heard him do this before. I just put down a rug for him to lay on and hope he feels better.
Should I humidify his air? Maybe put some vicks in the water?

My dog is slightly under weight all the time and the breeder says he needs to gain more weight. He always has access to food and we feed him a lot of meat. He also ges special dog vitamins. No matter what he eats though he burns it all off. Also he isn't really a chow hound when it comes to food. I'm getting worried about so I think a diet for working dogs that use a lot of energy would be good. Can someone please help.

I have also tried the collar and the spot-on preventative. She is suffering. We sit and pick them off her, but they keep coming back. What's up? Maybe a food additive, like garlic or something fleas don't like?

My shepherd mix 10 months old is a sweet gentle wonderful family pet and a very alert watch dog. She sleeps with me on my bed. When either of my daughters, who are 21 and 16, lay on the couch next to me or I give them a hug, my dog tries to push in between us, trying to climb into my lab to dislodge them. She also will hold their wrist in her mouth to try to pull them off me. It looks like play and she is wagging her tail and having fun? So is it play, jealousy or what?

She is a 6 mo. old min pin who is lucky to be alive. She was found by a river with her ears cut & sewn closed with string. She was so skinny that you could see her whole ribcage. She is the sweetest dog ever. Now she deserves a cool name.

1) How do you start/finish the process?
2) Are there any regulations,or limitations concerning breeds? (Arizona)
3) After certification what are the legal rights/benefits concerning travel i.e, can landlords deny you residence if they have a no pets policy, can you use the bus with dog in toe, can I go to class w dog in toe etc.?
4) Are there legal differences between therapy dogs and see and eye dogs? If so what are they?
PS I'm recovering from Bipolar disorder and my peer told me that my psychiatrist can help me establish the right to have a therapy dog as she has, so I'm considering getting a APBT (Americas Dog), but as you see I'm cautious about getting leases and traveling, so any insight will be appreciated, thanks
