This is very tricky. You will need to contact a professional. If you don't give him the correct vitamins etc it could harm him.I know that Bichons have alot of allergies.Go to a pet store that sells the B.A.R.F. diet and ask alot of questions.

HI! It is possible to feed your dog home cooked food. It is a lot of work, but can be done.
I don't know where you are located, but on one of our local TV programs there was recently a discussion on this.
A home fed diet can provide the dog with necessary nutrients and everything needed without fillers or additives.
What you would need to do is contact some of the vets. in your area and talk with them. We actually have a vet in our city who will work with you on a diet, what to feed and how to prepare.
Don't give up and if I can help in any way, just e-mail me.
Good luck and you sound like a great doggie mommy.

After the scare involving the tainted dog food, a lot of dog food recipes were posted- and many actually looked good. Run a Google search.
Make sure your dog is getting all the nutrition he needs though.

It's totally possible. But you need to research around to find out the best foods to give them. When we were growing up, we raised all our dogs on table foods, but my mom just had the mentality that 'if it's good for us, it's good for them'. We never fed them things that we knew were toxic to them (ie, chocolate), but they always ate meat, vegetables, and grains. My mom actually cooked extra for them.
Be careful as you switch your dog from dog food to human food, though. Doing it too quickly will make him sick.
