If this is an adult dog, not funny. Animals with heart or lung disease often cannot breathe when laying down (because of fluid in the chest), so they try to sleep sitting up. Then they fall over, can't breathe, wake up and get no rest at all. If your dog is on the older side, or has not been on heartworm preventative, I'd be very worried about this behavior as it could be a sign of heart failure.

Wow, a lot of opportunities, right here. My son, 4 weeks previous as of the day previous, additionally hates swaddling, and is clingy as all get out. My husband has a tendency to hold him for me a lot, yet i chanced on that a Boppy facilitates a lot! in case you have no longer have been given one, it relatively is that U-shaped pillow which you will locate at any Walmart interior the toddler section. i take advantage of mine for nursing, yet I additionally lay Gabriel's head on the best of the U and curl the ends against his aspects, so it mimics him being held. And he would not get sweaty from it, the two! you may additionally attempt the swing, which became right into a lifesaver for my older son while he became into an toddler. It rocks him to sleep. i do no longer understand what you're able to do approximately him at night, although, via fact which you may no longer permit slightly one sleep in a swing or on a Boppy unsupervised. and because he's screaming particularly of basically whining, some thing else ought to ok be up with him. He could have gas, i might attempt giving him slightly simethicone (little tummies, or regularly occurring gas-alleviation drops). For his weight, supply him 0.3mL, the marker could be on the dropper that incorporates the bottle. it can't harm to attempt at any fee. If he starts passing gas like mad, that became into the undertaking. good success, and get some sleep!

It sounds funny, but if the dog has never done it before,he could be having breathing problems.Dogs who have a hard time breathing will sit up,as it is easier to breathe.I would watch for shortness of breath, coughing, panting or bluish gums and tongue. You may just want to take the dog to the vet for a check -up just to be sure there isn't a problem.

Is this new or has he always done it? It is not normal for a dog to sleep while standing. I think. Maybe there is something inside that hurts him. Why we can't lie down. Ask your Vet. He may need x-rays to see what's up. Physically. Blood panel would show organ issues. Enlargement, etc.
