Dogs - October 2007

Ellen adopted a pet dog from a shelter. After a while the dog was too much to handle so she gave it to her hairdressers two young daughters. They love this dog very much. The shelter found out about it and took the dog away. Ellen is pleading to have the dog returned but apparently she signed a waiver saying that if the dog couldn't stay at her house it had to be returned to the shelter so she violated the agreement she had signed. These girls are heartbroken and Ellen is trying to get the dog returned to the girls and feels horrible that the shelter took it away. The shelter is standing behind their decision to take the dog back because who gave Ellen the right to determine if the home was fit for the dog? These girls love this dog but the shelter is still refusing to let the girls have it back. Do you think Ellen was in the wrong by giving the dog to the girls or do you think the shelter is wrong for taking the dog back even though she violated the agreement?

Ellen put alot of money into helping Iggy....then realized he didn't do well with her cats. She found an excellent home for him....what about all the money, time and energy into finding a new home for Iggy? If the family doesn't receive him back, will Mutts & Moms reinburse Ellen....and family's with kids under 14 can't adopt a dog....lots of people purchase a dog for the family when the dog is young, so the children can grow up with them.

Can anybody spare some time to help me?

I had to have my 12 year old black retriver put down last week.
Im buying him a memorial stone in the next 2 days and looking for something to put on it along side with his name and photo.

Iv looked through the internet but all I get is sad 'lost' poems.

I would really like something short (bout 5 lines) that essentally would thank him for all the times we've shared, and the lives he has touched (as he was loved by far many more people than me) something that would make people smile when they read it.

He was an amazing dog, and I miss him so badly.

Thank you in advanced for your time.

Here's a website photo link below of Mutts and Mom's owner. It's against the law to run an adoption of any animal who hasn't first been placed with the ASPCA on hold for 5 days. Bet you didn't know that. I found a dog and had to surrender it to the ASPCA in Pasadena. Mutts and Moms is right next door. If a dog cannot be adopted, it goes to these so-called rescue groups. Pit bulls are trained to kill by giving them weak dogs to practice on. Somebody has to supply a reliable chain of weak dogs. What better way than to volunteer at a shelter? Makes you think twice about charities that take dogs away from little kids when the ASPCA is more than willing to give a dog to a family with small children. Why would you need to take any dog from children with no real proof that they were in danger?

I have Frontline Plus for Dogs right now and I was just wondering which was better. Also, if anyone can answer a couple questions with the Frontline Plus, i'd love to hear them. Does Frontline Plus have an expiration date? I've looked all over the box and couldn't find one. I haven't used it in a while, so I wanted to make sure. Also, how long of a time frame should I wait in between doses? Thanks so much! ♥

My dog went to the vet today, and I was told that she has cancer, and a golf-ball size tumor.

They said it is too late to perform any surgery, and will either bleed to death, or will need to be put to sleep.

Of course, I don't want her to suffer, so I chose to put her down. She will probably be put down, by the latest, Friday.

I need some words of encourgement.. got any stories or something? I've never lost a animal before.. and I'm going through a really hard time.

thanks.

My pure-bred Pom has a skin condition in which she flakes really bad. I use an Oatmeal shampoo on her when I bathe her and sometimes put T-Gel Dandruff gel on here when she gets really bad. Earlier this week, we noticed that she has scratched and bitten the area above her tail raw. I also found a small lump just above one of her teats about 3 weeks earlier and was planning to take her to the vet about it.

She is almost 10 years old and has never been spayed as I bred her once before and had planned to breed her again before she hit 5 years but thought against it due to her small size. At any rate, I took her to the vet and they insist that the scratch and biting wounds are from fleas, perhaps an allergic reaction to even just one flea bite. She has been infested 2 times in her life, once when my husband took her to a friends house and once when she was groomed at ....a commercial groomers who I won't say so I don't get sued...P**t's M**t...never again.
