how do i fix my dogs flea problem?

this summer my dog got fleas pretty bad and hes kinda looking a little unhealthy... we tried using different things on him but nothing seemed to be able to get rid of the fleas.
Is there any simple methods for getting rid of his fleas fast?

go to the vet tomorrow (bring the dog with you) tell them about the flea problems. they will most likely give you some Frontline Plus.(flea and tick killer also water proof) this is a one a month topical liquid you put on the shoulder blades. usually you can get a single dose or a 6 month supply or try Revolution (Flea and Heartworm killer and water proof) again, lasts 30 days and you can also get this in a single dose or 6 month box. they may also suggest getting a flea bath/dip. there is also a pill (you have to get it @ the vets) its called "CapStar" it will kill ALL fleas in about 30 minutes thats on the dog, and keep him protected for 24 hours. i really do not reccomend getting products like flea and tick spray from a local store (walmart or petco or petsmart). they are not as effective and will NOT last for 30days and isnt waterproof.

R u sure he has a flea problem? Sometimes mange, can be mistaken, for fleas. I found a safe, inexpensive cure 4 mange.
It works, in a matter, of days. Just buy an ALOE plant, pref 1 w/ young shoots, and a bottle of vitamin E capsules. Break off a piece of the plant, and rub it on the infected areas, then poke a hole, into the capsule, get the vit e all over the treated area, rub in GENTLY ! Depending how severe the mange is
in severe cases i've seen the hair start to grow back in 3-4
days. A friend, back east, had a dog who'd lose ALL his hair
over his entire back , he'd look horrible, I took the things, over showed him what to do, he kept up w/ it, and that was 1 summer that ol' dog had hair.

Yes - any veterinary spot-on like Frontline, Advantage or Revolution. Go quickly to a vet, especially if your dog is looking bad!

Please don't waste any more money on pet store products, because they don't work. You need to get hold of some Frontline, get it on your dog's SKIN, not his fur, AND spray your house. If your dog doesn't start to look good within a couple of weeks (Frontline will kill all the fleas within 24 hours), or he develops any other signs of ill health, take him to a vet.

Using something like Frontline will kill all adult fleas and flea eggs. You should not have let this problem get that bad. Why didn't you use flea prevention in the first place?

Really good bath with a flea dip, monthly topical treatment and, this is the important part...flea bomb your entire house at least one time. You might have to repeat the bath and the flea bombing, but that should do the trick. Oh...and after you fleabomb the house, vacuum really thoroughly and then throw the vacuum bag away in the dumpster.

Get a prescription from a vet. Dogs can take flea pills once a month--then there are no fleas.

I finally went to the vet... got some good shampoo. Then killed them inside and out. Winter is coming and that will kill the fleas outside. You need to get the eggs that are inside.

yes, you can just take him/her to your nearest pet store (PETCO) and they will give you the right shampoo to help your dog with the flea problem. (make sure you dont just buy it from the cheapest store you find because it can cause irritation in your dogs skin)

You should also treat the house and yard.
