It'd look like a mutt.

And yes, it would be possible. They're both dogs. Just make sure the Great Dane is the mom or you'll likely have a dead Chihuahua mom.

The way genetics works is that puppies can inherit characteristics from either parent, including recessive genes that aren't obvious by looking at the dogs. Generally when you breed two different dogs the result IS NOT a "happy medium" with all the best characteristics of either parent. You need to be prepared to have all the worst characteristics of either parent as well as some unexpected traits popping in.

So a mix between the two breeds may be small, medium or large. It might have long-hair (like Chis can have) or short-hair (like Chis or Danes). It may have a long head or a round, apple head. It may have a tail that curves up over the back like a Chihuahua or a tail that hangs down like a Dane. (etc.,etc.,etc.)

It may get hip dysplasia or bloat like Great Danes sometimes do or it might have a luxating patella like Chis sometimes do, or it might have a totally new problem that resulted from breeding two such different dogs.

I'm not so sure...I've never seen one before of course LOL. You should try googling pics of great dane/chihuahua puppies. There has to be a few out there!

And yes, it's very possible. As long as the great dane is the mom it could work. If the chihuahua was the mom, the puppies would get way too big and probably kill her, if the male could even impregnate her in the first place (ouch!).

For one, i sure hope the female is the great dane!!! If the mother is the chihuahua she will die before the baby is born. There is no way on this earth that a chihuahua can carry a great dane puppy inside her!! I hope your just asking for fun because if these two breeds really did get together, whoever let it happen are sick and if it was an accident they should have the puppies aborded if the female is the small one.

Well it could be done. You'd have to get a female great dane and impregnate it with chihuahua sperm. If you did it the other way round the poor little mite would explode with the size of the puppies- I don't think its really possible for the mating to happen naturally- I'm sure they'd try.
The two different mutations of size coming together could make a very unhealthy dog- since little dogs stop growing early and big dogs late, or it could be fine. I dunno?! Neither dog has any really weird characteristic like excessive wrinkling, or curly fur though so the combination would probably just look mutt- like.

I remember quite some years ago a Dachshund dog mated with a Great Dane B itch, it was done naturally, the b itch lay down, (where there's a will there's a way), there were pictures of the puppies in the paper, I expect the pups had a lot of back problems later in life as they were very heavy dogs on short legs.
