When my Cavalier has a poo, she goes round in circles first, sniffing the floor. Usually it is over 20 circles, but can be up to 100. She has the first piece, sniffs it and then carries on doing the other piece/s still going round in (slower) circles. I'm surprised she doesn't go dizzy...she does it so fast. Does anybody else's dog do this or something equally as silly?

At least she doesn't go and hide it like my Yorkie does.

My Pekingese coco circles endlessly to find the right spot also. She doesn't sniff it until the end though, I guess your pup is just not patient enough to get a nose-full, lol. When mine was a pipsqueak I had to break her from eating it. She was apparently bred in a small area and the moms eat their poo to keep the pups from getting ill, then the puppies learn to do it as a consequence. I've learned a lot since then, and will never go to a hillbilly breeder again.

i'm no longer sickened by potential of mixing breeds no count if this is for the ideal reasons (i'm sickened by potential of the identify "dressmaker breeds"). All dogs, regardless of their purebred/non-purebred prestige, are derived from crossing diverse breeds. the situation we've right this moment is that the breeders of "dressmaker breeds" are money-hungry. they do no longer think of of convalescing on a breed till now putting a pug and a pekingese mutually--it rather is an accident that finally ends up making them money, and could become a headache for the hot puppy proprietors who could manage the dissimilar eye problems. i be attentive to that a number of the breeds are pointless, because of the fact they're injuries. however the actuality of the situation is, human beings purchase them. Why could it count how plenty they spend on a dogs, or what identify they're giving them? they're nevertheless being bred and nevertheless being offered. this is a blended breed dogs till the strains are regular to cause them to purebred, yet surely, it is going to constantly be a mix-breed (wager what? Your dogs is combination breed too!). All dogs have been blended, and nevertheless are to get a greater useful common. regrettably, there are some those that are greater inquisitive approximately what the dogs sounds like as a replace of concerning themselves with the wellbeing of the dogs. i'm no longer offended on the those that purchase them. it rather is basically one much less mutt in a shield--in spite of the actuality that with a number of the crosses that are being bought, i could quite get a dogs from a shield. And all and sundry it quite is attracted to buying one in all those so-referred to as dressmaker breeds could rather learn the two breeds till now even pondering the dogs. yet even nevertheless, because of the fact a common genetic line has no longer been formulated with maximum, you by no potential be attentive to what you will get. a minimum of the dogs is fortunate sufficient to have somebody it quite is prepared to offer them a house.

Well my black lab, Dino, did not go in circles, but he would not stay still to poo, he would hunch his back and let go and then start walking, he never left a pile, always a trail.

I miss the old guy, had to put him to sleep last year, he was 17

That's a bit much, but they all pretty much go in circles unless they really have to go. They are performing multiple functions. One being finding the exact spot to leave their scent and establish themselves. It's something built in and you can't change them. Get nervous only if they start yelping or something. Then they have a problem.

It's called "beatin down the bushes" down here in the south. Instinct from way back. To have an unobstructed place to do your poo or to sleep.

My dog goes in circles as well, but not quite to the extent that yours does. It is quite comical that they have their little routines.
