I was just cleaning my dog and saw that she had a huge number of ticks in her ears although she's been recently treated with Frontline and with a shot to prevent mange that usually kills fleas and ticks also. I can't understand how she has ticks in her ears and I don't know if I can put tick medicine in her ears or not. A neighbor suggested rubbing alcohol, another suggested pulling them out one by one (DISGUSTING) and another neighbor said vaseline will smother them. What do you guys think? Can I put Frontline Tick Repellant in her ears or are her ears too sensitive for such strong medicine?

My diet consists mostly of lean meats, scrambled eggs, fresh veggies, pasta and potatoes. The dog loves what I eat and turns up his nose at dog food. I figure dogs have eaten what we have for 1000s of years and have thrived. Please don't tell me processed food is so much better.

ok, my dog has been doing this for a long long time, ok so here it goes:
when i am not around or when other people are around, my dog creeps inside a bathroom and when i go looking for her she runs out and has her ears back (the little innocent puppy look) and when i go inside the bathroom to go check, i find tissues and garbage out of the bin. and she tears it and i find little piecies everywhere, if it helps she is about 8-9 yrs old.she has been doing this for a long time, and i have always wonderd why she does this.

Ok...without debating the QUALITY of the food, can someone name the chemical that they put in the food that "kills dogs", or "makes they sick"???? I am sick of hearing that whenever someone asks about the brand.
If you cannot name the "chemical that they add that kills dogs"...why are you saying it??? Did you just hear it someplace and keep vomiting that tidbit whenever you can???

I have no idea that dogs actually sometimes needed C-Sections. I learned this today while I picked up meds at my vet.

What breeds most commonly need C-Sections?

Okay. I have 2 kittens (female, spayed) 1 cat (male, neutered) and 1 dog (male, neutered). My dog is kinda fat and he looks pretty bored, even after walks, (twice a day) he doesnt play much. My question is, should i get another dog? IF we did get another dog, he/she would be a shelter dog, spayed/neutered (FOR SURE) and have all his shots. I am questioning it because he is territorial over his toys and his food and he doesnt like certain dogs (ones bigger than him)

Do you understand why the standard is set the way it is?
Have you ever looked up the standard for your breed before you bred your dogs? Does your dog fall within the standard?

When you go to purchase a puppy is the breed standards important to you at all?

Fill me in on what you think?

So I have a maltese mix and he's really well behaved. He usually goes outside to poo, urinate etc however recently he has picked up the habit of pooing in my sisters bed. He's done it twice already and we're not sure why that is. Any ideas?

My dog barks and jumps around alot when he hears my parents car comming through the drivway or when people come over or when they just walk by our window. We're going to move soon to an apartment and if he barks, there will be many complaints. We thought about giving him surgery but we first wanted to try to train him. He doesnt bark when theres no one home But when I'm home alone with him and someone comes over (even family members) he gets to happy and hyper and starts barking really loud. How can I train him not to bark?

Why or why not? Where can you get them??

Is that trainer on Its Me or the Dog right when she said "If you get in an accident and that dog isn't buckled in, he'll fly through the windshield taking your head right off."

Do you need seatbelts for cats? or just dogs?
