I have placed a $500 deposit on a toy breed mixed puppy and the breeder told me from the beginning that because she is so small (only about 2lb when fully grown) that she needs to stay with the mother until 15-16weeks old.....I feel I have missed out on all her puppy weeks and now I am suppost to pick her up in 3 weeks but I am not sure if she is worth the balance of $3000 for a dog that is 16 weeks old. Am I being crazy.....besides paying $3,500 for a dog, does it matter that she is 3 1/2 months old when I get her?

Our neighbor, a licensed Police Officer, neglects his dog. He ties the dog up, without water or food in the hot sun and leaves. The dog gets tangled up and today he looked close to death. We called the Police in the past about this, not much result. He does not care. Today our local Police Officer came out, after we called, provided the dog with water and moved the dog into the shade. We would have loved to help the poor dog, but could not, we would have been persecuted for trespassing. He could not write a ticket , since the city has no ordinance against animal neglect or abuse.
Some people should be prohibited from having animals. Where is Peta or the SPCA? In rural areas, no one seem to care at all.

I really don't want to buy anything online or at a specialty shop. The grocery store or a Petco/Petsmart is what I am interested in. My dog is 12 and a bit overweight. I'm confused because some say to get her senior dog food because it has less protein which is easier on her kidneys yet others have said this tastes like cardboard and dogs are not satisified. I don't want my dog to feel hungry or refuse to eat. Thanks.

I really want a german shepherd, but I don't want one that is as big as usual! So, can you help me find a teacup one? It really has to be small. And I would really like it if it didn't shed either.

Oh, and it has to be free or cheap, because I don't have much money. If you know where I can get two of them, that might be better, a boy and a girl!

This is day four of such activities, and it's very worrisome. He'll drink milk occasionally, but has diahrreia (sp?) and a hard time urinating. Any reason why?

The local vet is adament that this will pass.

I have a 9 month old german sheperd/pit bull. And she is drooling all of the sudden. She has never done this before. Its not like foam drool or anything its just...slime. But she seems to do it when she is sleeping. She is inside all day with air conditioning, so i dont think she is too hot. But anyone have any idea what this is or could be?

We adopted a 1 year old Min Pin/Doxen about 2 months ago. House training him has been extremely difficult. During the day and evening when we are home he is fine and will go outside to do his business. However in the morning if we are still in bed he will go down stairs and poop or pee right in front of the laundry room.
We have done everything we can think of. From punishing him but sticking his nose in it and putting him out side to cleaning the carpets to get the smell out.
We have another dog who is three and we had no problem training her. They have a doggie door to go in and out of the as they please and he knows its there, he uses it all the time. We are lost for what to do can anyone help!?

My dog is pregnant and has been dripping clear, mucus-like stuff (her mucus plug) for about 40 hours and i was wondering up to how long can this last before the hard contractions begin?? I have dogs who have delivered puppies b4 but it hasn't ever taken them this long. She has her colostrum (milk) in already and she has had it for aproximately 10 days. She is a large dog and this is her second time having puppies. I believe she mated around the 1st of June. Please only replys from experienced dog owners or vets or other kinds of dog professionals. Thank u in advance!

I took him to the Animal ER and they gave him Metacam and Penicillin. The next morning we took him his Vet and they prescribed him clavamox tab. He is doing well and is still playful but I am horrified to see him have a seizure again. The vets don't know exactly what it is and right now they are not ready to do a test. They want to see what happens next b/c he already had his shots and it may not be anything.

My friend says she has asked a vet & has been told it is safe to give her dog diazapan because the dog goes nuts in a car & she has to take the dog in a car to kennels.
I personally wouldn't think this was right for an animal to be given human medication so i just wanted to check for the sake of the poor dog......

My puppy is a coppernose beagle puppy. I've looked on the computer trying to find any sites about them but the computer is making it look as if they don't exist. Has anyone heard of these dogs before and does anyone know where I can read about them or find a site about them?

I KNOW it's her treats that did it. Reason is because she got an upset stomach a few weeks ago which lasted about 2 days. SO she had treats yesterday and the same thing happened. That's how I know it HAS to be the treats. I threw the treats out, they obviously aren't agreeing with her. She pooped really watery early this morning. She has pedialyte but I was wondering if (like humans) dogs had some kind of Pepto that can be bought OTC. I am almost for CERTAIN it's the treats and nothing serious. Although if it does persist I will take her to my vets office IMMEDIATELY but he doesn't open until 5 p.m. (for those of you who right away want to ASSUME that someone is being a neglectful owner). I just need something to hold her over. Thanks guys!
