This is day four of such activities, and it's very worrisome. He'll drink milk occasionally, but has diahrreia (sp?) and a hard time urinating. Any reason why?
The local vet is adament that this will pass.

He's a Pemborke Welsh Corgi, and just turned a year old today. Usually he runs everywhere.

Vets are VERY hard to come by here, as we're in the middle of nowhere. I've been calling Vets all over the western side of Wyoming (where we live) and all are saying the same thing. I've looked it up online and it sounds like bacertial endocritis. No vets locally or within 70 miless will take him in. So I'm off to Idaho Falls to meet with a vet, hope Jonah makes it the 4 hour drive over.

He wont drink anything BUT milk. We've bowls of water all over the house for him and he wont touch them. We didn't introduce him to the milk till yesterday morning when it became apparent he needed fluids or face kidney failure and death. PLUS we were advised by other Pembroke Welsh Corgi owners to give him milk if he wouldn't take the water.

hmm, doesn't sounds good at all. I'm sorry, but the vet knows s***! That won't pass by itself! He could have swollen something, or his intestines could be irritated. The fact of the diharrea and hard time urinating seem to indicate that his intestine became irritated with something he ate.
Where is he? Inside or outside of the house? If he is outside, you should try bringing him in for some time until this passes. Also, feed him some plain white rice for the first day, and offer him some. Also, instead of milk or water, try buying some serum. It doesn't need to be special for dogs. It could be the one that we, people, use to keep us from dehydrating.
I've found that many dogs like apple and cherry or strawberry flavors.
The first time you feed him rice, you should fill up 1/3 of his plate and it should be plain white rice, with nothing on it. Also, don't feed it to him too hot, make sure it's lukewarm.
Afterwards, you can fill the plate up to half. You should leave it outside for him as much as you can, but just make sure it doesn't gets rotten. I would say as much as an hour and a half. He may eat a little bit of it.
Now, with the serum, replace water and milk COMPLETELY with it. He is in great risk of dehydrating! Leave the serum where he can reach it all day. If he finishes it, fill it up again. Also, if where you live it is very hot, be sure the serum is cool when you give it to him.
Now, you could also freeze one or two ice cubes of serum, so that he can see it as a game, but is actually helping him restore his health.
If his condition worsens, or you have some other question, you can contact me at;

Most older dogs are fairly lactose intolerant, they will tolerate milk to a point, however if he's only drinking milk and not having any food this would defiantly cause problems. You might want to try and feed him some bland type foods, I've read that feeding a dog the following can help with acute diarrhea.
1/3 meat
Cooked meats that are very low in fat such as chicken or boil hamburger, no seasonings. and
2/3 rice or other bland grain. Oatmeal or white rice.
I would however suggest discontinuing milk, leaving out water for him to drink and taking your dog to another vet, becuase it seems serious and after 4 days if it was to pass it should have.

Stop the milk, that is what is giving the dog diarrhea. Take your dog to another vet. Dogs do not yelp for no reason, he could have some type of internal problem. Your vet should have checked him out. He may be dehydrated by now and need fluids. Demand they check your dog and I would not go back to the first vet. Call another vet now!! Good luck.

How old is the dog? Did the vet check him for a urinary infection? My parents dog also yelped when touched. The vet took xrays of his back and hind legs and found out he had a deteriorating spine and arthritis. Try another vet. Plus, I wouldn't be giving the dog milk. This can cause constipation and more problems.

There is something wrong with his Stomach ,if the Vet says it will clear up it is probably Colic, trapped wind in Intestine. Did you bring him for a Walk after a big Feed this is bad for them, and perhaps you ran him around a field very bad for your Dog. This can give your Dog Torsion in the Gut, it literally twists the Intestine into a Knot and can Kill your Animal. Horses can suffer from it as well and can Die. When your Dog eats his Dinner dont bring it for walks but let him sleep it off until the next Day.

I'd go to another vet. Milk gives dogs diarrhea anytime. Sounds like a kidney stone to me. Hard time urinating is usually a stone. Look for blood in the urine. I would go to another vet, this one sounds lazy.

Definatly, find a new vet! Dogs don't yelp when moved unless they are in pain! The fact that he is so lethargic is VERY worrisome! Get him to an animal hospital!

He needs medical attention any vet that tells you this will pass doesn't know anything about animals. He'll never know unless he checks the animal. See another VET immediately or call you local humane society for help .. he might die!
