So I have a maltese mix and he's really well behaved. He usually goes outside to poo, urinate etc however recently he has picked up the habit of pooing in my sisters bed. He's done it twice already and we're not sure why that is. Any ideas?

Maltes is a really smart bread. spraying them whith water doesn't work. It's always good to have a kind of baby gate to keep them of the carpet and out of the upstars. if he poos on her bed just hit them on the nose (not to hard... just hard enough for him to no your not happy) and yell "NO" or "BAD" . That's how i tranned my maltes (his name is Ace)

I just don't know why this is such a huge problem with particularly toy breeds......

I have had many, many dogs all my life and have never had a problem with pooping and peeing in the house, nor destructive behavior....but I don't have little breeds

Marking territory. Your dog is claiming your sisters bed as its territory. This indicates to me that they dog does not respect you or your sister as alpha. Have you and the dog attended any obedience classes? They will teach you about dog behavior and how to train your dog.
