My dog barks and jumps around alot when he hears my parents car comming through the drivway or when people come over or when they just walk by our window. We're going to move soon to an apartment and if he barks, there will be many complaints. We thought about giving him surgery but we first wanted to try to train him. He doesnt bark when theres no one home But when I'm home alone with him and someone comes over (even family members) he gets to happy and hyper and starts barking really loud. How can I train him not to bark?

Obedience training. It is easy to train a dog to not bark. But you first have to start out with a dog that is trained to obey commands. Obedience school, they will teach you about dog behavior, how to be alpha and how to train your dog.
Surgery is out of the question. You should consider giving the dog up for adoption before any surgery. Shock collars are aversion training as is: hitting the dog, squirting it, or anything else that makes they dog obey because it fears you. You never ever want your dog to fear you.

Well, my dog barks all of the time, it's a high pitch, loud, annoying, bark. so we bought her a bark collar. She learned what it was in a couple days. Now all we have to say is " Do you want the collar?" Then she just stops barking!! It works all of the time!! Your dog will not hate you, They will just hate the collar. I mean have you ever hit your dog and it hated you? No. It just comes over to you and starts licking you!! So it will not be mad at you!!!! You can also you a squirt gun. they hate that too. once you take it out and show it to them they will just stop barking right away. And these things won't take them long to learn what there are!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

PLEASE DO NOT DEBARK YOUR DOG! I have seen dogs with this and they sound awful. Imagine a dog, with a cold, barking in a loud whisper. Obedience training it the best but be aware that some breeds just bark more than others. Also exercise will help wear him out so he isn't so excited.

I know this sounds cruel, but shock collars work the best. My neighbors have a rot weiller and that dog used to try to break down the fence to try and get to me and my husband, but now after they put the shock collar on her it helped a lot.. i havent heard her bark in quite a while... My dad also trained his black lab not to bark or whine, (for hunting) with one.. so try that before the surgery....

umm dont know if you would want to but you could use a shock collar i used to have one but it broke dont know where it is and it seemed to work pretty good just take it off when you play with him or he will be hurtin
