My dog doesnt trust me :(?

Question

Whenever i try to walk him, he refuses, but when someone else does hes right next to them. Im worried because its very frustrating to always ask someone else. I love my dog and i want to spend time with him, but he doesnt want to.

I never have that problem some dogs see me they jump on me and wanted me to own them they sensed that I got wings I guess. you can change him by being with him by your self alone for a little while and treat him well then he will realize that you are the owner same way as you tame your lover.

That must hurt. The good thing is you can make the dog do what you want, because you're the master! :) Get some good dog training books, get a choke collar and use your leash. Teach the dog to heel. Follow the methods...it'll work. When it DOES work, the dog will certainly 'trust' you and feel comfortable around you because you are a capable leader that they can depend upon. Good luck!

Try the 'tunnel test'. Set up a tunnel and have your dog stay at one end while you hold a treat on the other. Call his name and caox him through the tunnel. It might take a while, but keep at it. Once your dog goes through, praise him! Also, try holding a treat in your hand when walking and hold it on your side. Take a few steps at a time. It sounds like you have a nervous puppy....take things slowly and socialize with him. Don't worry, you'll get there.

Get a book on positive dog training, take the dog to obedience class and start working with him. If you show the dog patience with fair and clear guidence the dog will learn to trust you. GL

Do you ever get frustrated at him and snap? thats one of the biggest problems, dogs trust you until you do something that makes them scared of you... like if the pup pees in the house and you yell at them, they pretty much think your crazy... then they dont want to have anything to do with you, because your unpredictable... so try giving snacks, and loving on him.. dont let him feel your frustrations, try to mask them.. i e yell at the pee not the pooch..

You should seriously look into to renting the dog whisper DVDs and reading the book. He addresses these exact problems and its all about your dog knowing who's the boss and your mannerisms around him. If he thinks he's the boss he'll do whatever he wants. i can help!!! i think. my dog was a stray and she did`nt trust me either! now she loves me to death ans diddo to her to! ok well spend LOTS of time by yrself with him. give him dog treats( they love those :D ) u do all the feeding and watering the dog. dogs tend 2 trust and rely on the ppl who feed and water them. try to play with, or do watever u need to do to bond with him. pet him ALOT.(UNLESS HES SCARED) if hes scared just coax him with his favorite toy or treat until u can pet him. good luck P.S that worked 4 me

the dog whisperer and training classes of your own. they arent that expensive and petsmart will teach you how to use those types of collars and so on. dont just use them-they can be dangerous to you and your boxer if not used properly.

you should start by giving him belly rubs and treats, and YOU should be the one feed him, because that establishes bonds of trust. good luck!
