I eventually plan to open up my own pet store... And Sell dogs and cats... Yes I said it! Sell DOGS AND CATS! I see all these pictures and hear about puppy mills, and I do not doubt that they are out there,I believe several are out there. The only problem with this is that Im having a hard time finding the other part of the story. Knowone is fessing up to EXACTLY the name of these puppy mills. So my question is.."how exactly does a petstore owner find puppies from A "BREEDER". Im sure not all people who sell puppies are puppy millers.

Id also like to anounce that, I plan to let my puppies roam free over the store, no cages.

We have always been told to feed our dog the same food every day and that if we change his food, we must change it gradually so that it does not upset his system. I have seen what a quick change in diet can do!

How does that work with homemade diets? We could gradually switch to homemade, but then after that he will get different homemade foods all the time... will this constantly upset his system?

Why do they tell us that dogs have to eat the same thing every day so that they won't get sick but humans can eat a variety of different things.

Is eating human food on a consistent basis enough of a pattern in itself to avoid stomach upset?

Thanks in advance!

Okay I found these two dogs. One's a beagle and one's a golden retriever. The beagles a female and the goldies a male. I want to breed them and sell the puppies for like a thousand dollars and call them golden eagles. What do you think. Oh they are not registered and I will sell them to the first person that offers me money. so???? :)

We are thinking of getting a Beagle puppy. We already have a 7 year old female westie. The new puppy would be female too. Would they get along? Also are they cuddly dogs because I really want a nice snuggly one as well as playful. Are they good pets in general? Are they yappy too?

I'm pretty sure with will unpet some but I have to ask (I'm tired of people looking down on me and my family for owning mutts).

How many people realize that all the "pure bred" dogs were once mutts. The only pure breed k-9 os a wolf. People bred them to others with likable traits until they got something else and then mixed these to get something else and so forth and so on.

So why are "mutts" looked down on?

I have nothing against any breed or mix of breeds, and I've owned both pure and mixed breeds. This is just something that has been on my mind for a while and I wanted to see what others thought.

I know this isn't a site to post want ads but I am looking for a dalmatian (I live in Maine) and I've tried many search engines and sites and cannot find any dalmatian breeders. Is there only a certain time of year they can breed or am I just not looking in the right places?

I have tried searching states throughout New England, even the whole country and only found 2.

I have a shnauzzer/yorkie puppy. She is 4 months old. She pees inside constantly. She won't whine or run to the door until AFTER the fact. It is getting so bad that she will look straight up at me with her cute puppy eyes and pee right then and there! It is so frustrating!

I yell "No!" as I put her nose above the pee so she can see it, then take her straight outside. I had a dog for 10 years before getting her and this seemed to work when he was a pup!

I spray her with a spray bottle when she acts up... Edit***I DON'T spray her when she pees inside. Only when she is biting at my feet or on furniture. I have heard it is better to use a spray bottle, rather than constantly saying "No!" to puppies. Any other suggestions??

For those of you who have bashed my previous question, I have searched countless hours for a breeder. I have only found one and she acted as if my dog wasn't good enough to even come close to her male, and she was going to charge $700. My female is beautiful and registered with a great pedigree. Just because I haven't showed her and what not does not make her inferior. I love my dog and I have looked everywhere in my area, for those of you who think that spaying is the answer, you are ridiculous I want some puppies so that other people may enjoy my breed of dog just as much as I have, and I am up for the responsibility. I wouldn't have brought my dog all the way from Arkansas when I moved here if I didn't care about her. By the way this is a public forum and I am sure I am not the only one who has asked similar questions.

This question is for all the breeders out there- Basset, Animal Artwork, etc. Please tell me how you got interested in breeding, what you did to make sure you had the correct dogs and the correct approach, how much time you spent, how much money you spent, and why you think you are a good breeder. I am trying to present a model of what needs to be done FIRST- before people throw 2 dogs together and say 'go for it.' Thanks for your time, guys!

It thundered and lightning'd ( not a real word) last night and he kept scratching at the screen door like Freddy Crougar for like an hour and a half. Ripped a hole in the screen. I am so mad. He's never done that before and we have had him for 3 years. Does anyone else have scaredy cat pooches?

I have a 7 month old Golden Retriever. Lately she has been stealing food from the kitchen counter. Yesterday alone she got pancakes, garlic bread and bacon!!!!! I have never owned a big dog before, so I've never had this problem. Please tell me how to get her to stop. Yelling, hitting and sending her outside isn't working. My husband wants to get a shock collar... what are your thoughts?

the vet said parvo is like chicken pox, once they get it she cant get it again .. she told me that, then she went on to say when shes done with treatment, to come back in for four different parvo shots .. if shes immune, does she techincally need them? i mean i know it wont hurt for her to get them, but is it necessary to spend the 250 dollars that they wanna charge me, or are they just trying to make their money? trust me, ive been through alot with her in the week and a half ive had her, and if i have to get them i will, i just want to know if thats too much or if i dont really have to :D i guess its better to be safe than sorry.

It's not at any particular time, I just noticed him trying to rub up against it. It's not his butt, just the side of his body. I'm wondering if it's fleas and he's trying to scratch them? Any ideas?

My vet thinks my dog's limp could be a torn ligament and I was wondering if anyone knows of pet insurance companies that cover pre-existing conditions even if they do so after an initial waiting period or even if they cover them at a lower rate? Alternatively do veterinary colleges ever perform expensive surgery at reduced rates for students to gain experience? If so, which veterinary colleges?

I woke up today to find my 11 pound jack russel had chewed up a thermometer. It was about three inches long, and an inch around. I think I was able to find most of the glass, but I am sure some of it was ate. Also, what are the chances of her getting mercury poisoning from this? Should I try feeding her a cotton ball (apparently it says that collects sharp objects), or bread ... or something? I'm actually mostly worried about the mercury.
