I am trying to help my financee's cousin with his dog and I think he might have mange. If so it is just the beginning stage so I want to get it taken care of ASAP. It will be 2 weeks till I can get him into the vet so I am thinking I will try some OTC remedies from the feed store or tractor supply. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know there are 3 types, I know about skin scraping, I just want to try something until we can get him to the vet.

While on a brief search for my new dog (Rescued from humane society) I discovered so many distgusting animal stories, seen so many BYB advertising it made me die a little on the inside!!

There are animals ourt there just CONSTANTLY pregnant/nursing and thats their life cycle into they either die, end up in a shelter, or remain living in some of these filthy backyard breeders "homes"
and who knows what happens to the pups??? they dont care!! they got their $$$

So is there any laws to protect these animals?? I consider it cruelty to animals, but havent seen anyone ever arrested for "overbreeding an animal"

Is there any way we can protect the voiceless?

and i wouldnt compare it to the overpopulation of people. Humans most of the time have a choice whether they are going to have a kid/who they sleep with. these animals dont!

I've just gotten laid off from work temporarily and I'm disabled...my dog is sick and needs to see the Vet...but my financial resources at a temporary low, any suggestions of financial assistance to help with my pet Golden Retriever's upcoming vet expenses? She has already been in the hospital for liver & kidney issues during the early winter months and I think she is starting to get the same illnesses again from symptoms that are same from last time...Thanks...

So my dog (7 months) has been normal so before and after this incident. But yesterday after I came home..she started throwing up some yellow stuff..I dont think it was bile..because it took on a mucus like texture...anyway it was pretty gross..and im keeping watch on her in case it happens again (most likely take her to the vet then)..but anyone have any idea why this kind've thing would happen? maybe she just got into something while i wasn't looking?

My dog, (2 yrs) was chasing my son on Friday. It is Tuesday and she is still limping and her foot is a tad swollen, however she is walking on it and still continues to try to run. Should I take her to the vet or wait it out? We have been kenneling her in the day. Her one toe seems to be tender to the touch is there anything that can be done for a toe?

My sister has a caviliar king charles, but it turns its nose up at all different varietys of dog food. The only thing that he does eat is cat food, but that is only very rare (a little bit every day or so). There is also a cat in the holsehold, so i guess its just copying her! Especially as he sits at the back door miowing, and he lays on the back of the sofas as the cat does,
Is this something to worry about, or can we continue to feed him the food that is intended for cats?
Human food is his favourite though, and we know that overall that can definately do him more harm than good.
We are just so worried about him!!

Any tips and advice would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks.

Giving your dog 1/2 clove of crushed garlic, mixed in with your dog's food, once a day. I was wondering if it could really cure fleas. I was wondering because my grandmas samoyed has flas really bad ans shes taken him to the vet and gotten rid of the fleas but they just seem to come back. PLEASE only answer if you really know. I really need to know if it works or not!

We have a 5 month old australian shepard. He is so good except for at night. We put him in a cage at night and as soon as he goes in there he whines. He will wake up in the middle of the night or wake up extremely early and bark and whine until we get up with him. For the past week my husband and I have not gottin much sleep due to this. Is there some trainning technique that we can use or any other suggestions?

If I get a dog it would be left alone for 5 hours 2 days a week? I would like to get a dog but if it would be bad for the dog then I'll understand :) We have a big garden, a doggie door (so it can go in and out whenever it pleases)

We fed him Beneful Dog Food and he first lost the use of his back legs, and was getting better on steroids, but the steroids caused other problems, and now he has a skin infection that would be treated with MORE steroids. He is 12 years old, my "only child" and I cannot describe my pain. I don't want his and my last memories together be of me dragging him into the vets office AGAIN. We have spent almost $1000 in vet bills since he became ill. DO NOT FEED YOUR DOG BENEFUL because Purina is NOT taking responsibility for this. Read about it at www.snopes.com.

Hey people. After that pet food recall recently, I'm afraid of what i should feed my dog. He is a pure bred shiba inu and is about 1 year and 6 months old. I usually feed him iams dry food and not the cuts and gravy (thank god). Does anyone know what I should feed him?

I have two Standard Poodles, and they both have allergies. One is allergic to wheat (but not oats or barley), and the other is allergic to turkey. Does anyone know a veterinary diet that would be ok for both of them to eat? Please do not suggest brands like Iams or Pedigree; the popular commercial brands are the worst for their allergies.
