yes, one has to have the genes to do it! one of there mothers or fathers could have had the gene and one of the shorthaired dogs are a carrier of that gene! I suspect the offspring is a male and if im right the female would have had to be the carrier of the gene.

A short haired chihuahua can have the gene for long hair but not have long hair so yes it's possible.

Yes, because short hair gene is dominate and the dog can carry the gene for long hair. This is called masking the gene. Long hair gene is recessive.

In other words, 2 long haired dogs can only have long haired puppies, while short haired dogs can have short hair or long haired puppies.

Another way to look at it: blond haired, blue eyed humans can only have the same, while people with brown hair and brown hair can have kids with any hair color and eye color.

I even have long and short haired chis and that they are all staggering. I do discover that lots of the long haireds I even have had are slightly shyer, slightly quieter. The long haireds do require extra brushing yet they shed much less so there is way less mess from that. they're all clever, lovable, loving, loveable, staggering, staggering little canine. I choose them to the different breed. Having owned them over 30 twelve months I even have lots of adventure with them. They cheer me up whilst i'm feeling down. They wash away my tears whilst i'm unhappy. they're consistently there for me no remember what. i will consistently have chihuahuas as long as i will look after them. basically love them and that they're going to love you lower back tenfold.

Yes it is possibly to have dogs with long hair even though both parents have short hai. This is because one parent of the 2 dogs may have had long hair or their parents may have and it has been passed down.In dogs it works the same as in people both your parents may have brown eyes yet you have blue eyes or your parents have straight hair yet you have curly hair.

I prefer hair that will is shoulder length or longer, And also since that men who like females are more often then not straight, they like long hair because this looks more feminine, as most men have short hair.
