Yeah, like constantly, depending on the age of your puppy.

You can crate train it at an early age, as most dogs will hold it in a cage. They don't like to mess their sleeping quarters. If your not going to do it that way, you should take your puppy outside after he eats, sleeps and plays. And sometimes even in between those times.

Make sure you interact with him whenever you get the chance, give him plenty of chew toys, so he won't chew on your furniture. Make sure to hide wires and cords so he won't electricute himself.

Take the water away after he's finished eating. Thats one good tip people usually don't remember. Dogs will drink water when they are bored.

You need to take a young puppy outside every 2 hours, after playing, after eating and immediately after they wake up. They are just like an infant at first and can't hold their bladder for very long. See the links below for articles that explain what to do in house training your puppy.

All animals must go to the "restroom". The best way I found to housetrain your pup is to take him outside as soon as he wakes up. Go out with him and praise him when he does his "business". Say "good puppy!" then bring him back inside right away - that way he knows that going "potty" outside is a good thing. Do the same thing about 10 minutes after he's eaten - don't bring him in until he's done his business and again, praise him then bring him in.

Take the dog out when he wakes up, after eating or drinking, in the middle of the night, usually with puppies it's every couple hours or so. Their bladders are about the size of a walnut so they cannot hold to much in there. Hopefully your parents are going to help you out. If not, you shouldn't have got a puppy. They are a HUGE HUGE responsibility

This is all good advice. Also, keep him in a small area, where you can watch and if you leave the house put him in a small bathroom or a pet crate. They don't like to mess where they sleep and will hold it as long a possible. Remember, with a puppy this is not very long. I watched mine every minute. I had a min. pom. and it seemed like she would never be trained, then one day she was. Don't give up.

How old is your puppy? Generally a dog can 'hold it' for as many hours as it is months old. So, if you have a one month old puppy, it can only hold it for about an hour. I suggest getting a crate and finding information on potty training dogs. I've attached a link that should help you with some basics.

I have to agree with the other posters. It seems like they have to go all of the time, but as they get older it will become less frequent.
You just have to keep your eyes on the puppy all the time and watch for the signs that they need to go. I usually take my puppy out everytime he starts to sniff the floor.

Anytime they want. Basically after they nap, play, eat or drink. As a small puppy they need to be taken outside regurarly and especially immediately after each of those activities.

Why'd you get a puppy if you don't know anything about them? They need to go outside about every hour or so.
