You don't want one too similiar. The two names should be distinct enough so the dogs don't get confused when you call them. For example, Bo and Mo would be a bad idea. How about a same first letter - Zoe? Zeke and Zoe would be cute.

We're naming our female puppy Toews (pronounced Tayes).
Just remember to keep it to no more than 2 syllables - any more and it's difficult for the animal.
Other cute names are Daisy and Sadie.
A lot depends on the breed. Some breeds just look like they should have "people" names (pugs, bullmastiffs, bulldogs etc.)
