Yes, I'm taking my puppy Daisy (6 month old mini pinscher) to Russia with me this summer. Theres a lot of things you need to have & some airlines dont even allow them. Most airlines allow a dog up to 15 lbs to take with you onto the plane but they cant sit on your lap- they have to be in a kennel/bag & they have to sit under the seat in front of you. If your dog weighs more, you have to take them into the luggage hold. You have to get (in the U.S.) a vets health certificate proving that your dog is healthy enough to travel. Also from your vet, you need an a pet passport which can get pricey. This passport must include the international health certificate your vet will give you as well as a proof of rabies vaccination that your vet must write out for you. Also, wherever you are traveling, whether its intercontinental or just within the US, you need a MICROCHIP.
If your dogs too heavy to travel in the cabin with you (inside the plane with you) & needs to travel in the baggage hold, the cost is around $250 one way. If its on the plane with you, then its about $100 one way. Its very pricey- I just did all my papers & went to the vet & my total including microchip, plane ticket for her & microchip was a little less than $500.
heres a website that will provide you with all the necessary information:
www.pettravel.com
They'll tell you about laws in the country youre going to & different rules of different airlines.
Hope I helped, have a good day.

There isn't a yes or no answer to that question. Yes, SOME dogs are allowed on SOME planes but they cannot sit in your lap. They must be small enough to fit in a carry on case that fits under the seat in front of you - UNLESS your dog is a certified therapy/service dog. Not all airlines allow live animals in the cabins and not all airlines will take live animal shipments in cargo. And if you are traveling between countries........that a whole 'nuther ball game! Also, dogs cannot be flown into Hawaii without a 6 month quarantine period. Same with England with a few exceptions.

Small dogs are allowed if well behaved on some airlines as long as they stay in the crate, under the seat in front of you (as carry on luggage). Most airlines require they be checked as cargo and are put in climate controled cargo holds for the duration of the flight. There are a few airlines that do not allow animals. Check before booking.
Another thing is that you should not bring your pet when travelling overseas. For one, there are many other diseases overseas that we either dont have here or that we vaccinate for that some parts of the world dont. Its a danger for you to take your pet into these parts. Also all animals entering other countries must be quarintined going there and coming back home. This can mean 6months or more in a quarintine facility overseas and than again here in the US. Its just not worth it unless you are moving overseas for several or more years. Good Luck!

I think a dog is allowed on the plane under special agreements. Any pet that goes overseas goes into quarinteen to make sure that they don't pass over any diseases. For a small dog you can buy travel carriers which can sit next to you on the plane. Blind people for instance can have their dog go aboard, but I don't know whether large dogs could go on, you may have to ring the airlines and find out.

Only service dogs are allowed in the cabin. Smaller dogs are allowed if they can fit in a carrier that can fit under your seat. Some countries have quarantines for all animals that can be up to 6 months long.

animals are carried on planes but in the hold not in the cabin and i think only on cargo planes...England did not let pets from abroad come here with quarantine for a long while so nobody brought them but i think now if it is proved it,s a pet they can by boat but not 100%.....although the British firm ryanair do not allow dogs on board with the exception of a maximum of two guide dogs for the blind and do not carry cargo

Certain airlines will allow you to carry a SMALL dog in the cabin. You have to get a soft-sided dog carrier small enough to fit under the seat and keep the dog in there at all times. You will not be allowed to bring it out. Larger dogs have to be stowed under the plan in a hard-plastic carrier. Don't worry -- they keep that pressurized and heated.

Not sure about the disease transfer thing. But I'm pretty sure that they are not allowed to roam freely on a plane. You would have to put them in a travel case and either put him in cargo or possibly in your lap in the case.

Most dogs are treated like cargo and shoved below in a airline approved crate.
Now..for the little guys...if they can fit into the small carrier... and you willl have to contact the airline you are flying with to get all the specs on this... they can fly with you. The carrier has to be able to be stored under your seat...soooo... your dog would have to be very small....yorki or a small puppy or some such.
Never heard of them being able to be loose.

Yes if they are in a pet carrier, these are crates with handles .You put your dog in it and they take it in the cargo hold for animals, unfortunately you cannot carry the dog on the plane with you,hes got to go in this special area for animals.just make sure that hes got water. I know my aunt once took her toy poodle on a plane and in his carrier they allowed her to keep the carrier next to her on the seat, however, she had to pay for the extra seat! rubberstampr
