I've just gotten laid off from work temporarily and I'm disabled...my dog is sick and needs to see the Vet...but my financial resources at a temporary low, any suggestions of financial assistance to help with my pet Golden Retriever's upcoming vet expenses? She has already been in the hospital for liver & kidney issues during the early winter months and I think she is starting to get the same illnesses again from symptoms that are same from last time...Thanks...

Appreciate your efforts FaZizzle....But I've had many dogs myself the last thirty+ years....Pets do have a way to tell owners when they're ready to go or not...mine is a strong fighter and she has still the energy to play and still is frisky at times....just one sign that tells a lot, from experience I speak of this.

Thanks all for your efforts...I found out about an organization through Golden Retrievers rescue....though they wouldn't be able to do anything for the response I got from them "non-profit" and they're low on funds to be able to help out but referred me to the http://myjakebrady.com/index.shtml website and now waiting on word from there...found out from the blood profile of my dog at the vet, that she may have a chance if treated soon...

See if the vet will take payments, call a golden retriver rescue center, see if they know anyone, borrow from friends or family, put it on a charge, get your unemployment money coming in, don't pay your gas or electric bill whatever it takes!

Sadly, there isn't really much in the way of help for this type of thing. You can ask for a payment plan-some vets will but many now a days won't. Remember they have a buisness to run and if they gave away care they couldn't pay staff, cover costs, or make a living. It is a sad truth-lots of folks want to beleive that someone will help in this case but it doesn't work that way. Many vets have to put pets to sleep over finance issues. I would contact a Golden rescue group-they are your best bet for info and maybe even some assitance. You can find rescue group info on the AKC website. Best of luck to you.

Try to contact your local veterinarians and find out if you can work a payment plan.
Many places will take payments for procedures and care: Let them know your current financial situation. There are also programs with the humane society/your local spca for low income/financially troubled situations.
PS - For the statement above me: I realize the media did a huge report on creating home-made food for your pet. This is highly unadvised without speaking to a veterinarian/animal nutritionist first. Partially due to the medical conditions that can occur from creating a home made diet improperly (example: hypoalbuminemia from pancreatitis)
Hope this helps!

I was in the same situation last week w/ No MONEY! My kittens were deathly ill and I didn't know what to do. Go to carecredit.com and fill out the online application. If approved they will give you a credit limit that you can use for veterinary expenses. You can even use it before your card comes. All you have to do is find a vet that accepts care credit. I had no problem finding one, lots of places do now.
They gave me a 1000 dollar limit (which is all spent now) but it really helped and there is no interest!

Some vets take weekly payments if you have been a regular client with a good track record, and they can trust you to pay it back, but you must go to them before the date and explain your circumstances...dont bury your head, if you can in the future..get pet insurance. Also where i live there is an organisation called The Blue Cross, they help unemployed people, disabled and people on benefits to pay for medication and surgery for pets, see if there is something similar in your area, your vet would know.
Good luck, hope you get back on track soon...chin up.

Um well you could start by feeding her homemade food if you aren't already. The dog food on the market has been making lots of animals sick and is made from grade D food. Make your dog food with oatmeal and a little bit of ground beef or other meat thrown in. Dogs really like cheese and different kids of sausage too, like sumemr sausage, or give him ham. Make sure you aren't giving him anything dangerous. Here's some websites that might help you.
Also, I want to point out that some ingredients can be very harmful and even deadly to dogs. Check the 2nd website below.
If you decide to make her food maybe you might want to ask the vet what proportions to give things in.
I don't know where you could get financial help for your dog, I guess maybe ask the vet if he/she knows where to get assistance. I have a soft heart but am not too well off financially myself right now or I would help you. I'm disabled too and my mom has a golden retriever. I am sorry to hear about your dog.
Sorry I couldn't be more help financially...

Call the vet. Most want to help even if they can't do it themself - I bet they have LOADS of numbers for shelters/charities that can help you. Explain the situation - it's not your fault about your job, I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Are you on benefits? I don't know if you're from England or not, but here people on benefits qualify for big help from the PDSA. I'm sure there are similar facilities in America and elsewhere.
Good luck, hope it all works out, sounds like a very tough time you're going through

The top best answers is "Chetco", this person has helped me through sooo much. My nine year old boxer recently passed and Chetco was there with me every step of the way, (4 months, and has become my friend). Checto has a heart, a great heart that is there always for me and all my pets. Chetco's email is open and will definitely respond. Almost 30 years Checto has, as a breeder, and pet lover. Hope you are helped. Oh your email is not opened, not to worry Chetco's is.

i love your question, and that i love the perception. it will be tremendous if some equipment like this may be instated. each man or woman is searching for "loose" dogs and they don't look to comprehend that even "loose" pets are not loose! they imagine they get a dogs throw it food often times and its ok. I only hate human beings like this. i might want to get extremely into answering this, yet i visit claim that I notably believe you. I truthfully might want to pass feed my youthful ones, they're hungry, I only needed to respond to this outstanding question. BTW: I only had an emergency vet invoice for one in all my pups who were given an abcess (which we are able to not verify out how he were given it) yet this invoice became $1250.00 up the front. more suitable in the journey that they had to operate. So no longer in problem-free words might want to human beings be assessed monetarily for the customary expenditures, they should have the capacity to instruct data that they could provide emergency care if choose be. a lot of persons can'r locate the money for the ahead $$ to get their puppy emergency care, and those animals finally end up lifeless or severly injusred, or unwell. I agree, i'm unwell and uninterested in those posts that say "My dogs is unwell and that i elect to understand what to do, because i visit't locate the money for to take them to the vet, or the vets to a ways, its too overdue at nighttime"...It drives me loopy, it extremely is the duty you address at the same time as possessing a puppy... i ask your self if it will be the same way in the journey that they'd a baby. anyhow, gotta pass feed the youngsters, they attempt to get me off the pc by bumping my arm with their noses... tremendous question! Edit : I do believe Cindy P and Kristin B. They make tremendous factors... i actually believe them more suitable than my own answer... i actually do comprehend those who do not have a lot funds. there are cases at the same time as myself and husband are those undesirable human beings. at the same time as cases get demanding, the dogs are continually fed and characteristic their supplements, and we devour even with we may be able to scrounge up and do not go shopping for ourselves. each so often those who're undesirable have the affection sufficient to take more suitable powerful care of their pets than those who've funds. those who've funds only would nicely be those who're posting those questions, because they opt to purchase some thing else and by no potential spend their funds on their so referred to as cherished companions.

There are free clinics. They spay/neuter for free but some also provide other medical care. It would be worth a shot. Here's a webpage: http://www.petsandanimals.org/spayneuter_services.html
