Usually, you can go to your local humane society and have it done for a decent price, maybe $25 or $30.

Yes, that is the case here as well. It costs, on average, $45 for the chip and $17 to activate. Our Humane Society occasionally has a deal for $20 to insert chip. I don't know exactly how much to fix a female dog because there are a lot of variables. I just had some kittens fixed and it's been about $210 per kitten for the spay and then the shots and tests which were required. In addition, my vet includes pain killers for aftercare (hey, and this has really helped a lot!). I called around and the actual surgery was essentially the same price, but the additional requirements varied (i.e. shots required, pain relief). There are a lot of extras offered (fluids and bloodwork) or instance that aren't really necessary for a young dog, but certainly appropriate for an ill or older dog.

If you can find a microchip clinic being sponsored by a humane society shelter or a local kennel club you can probably get it done for $20 - $30. If you go to your vet you'll likely spend more in the range of $50 - $75.

I think it costs around $50 (&no I haven't looked at other answers) Its a good investment It costs more if the finder calls your home/cell instead of the vet. Otherwise just negotiate with the Vet on the price.

I live in Burbank, CA and at my local vet it is $25-$35. Check out your local animal shelter, it could be cheaper. You also have to enroll in the AKC animal recovery for $19.95 per pet. It's a good investment.
