Is there anything I can do or give my 11 year old Aussie Shep? Her hips hurt, it is hard for her to get up anymore AND she is overweight. I know the weight needs to come off, but in the mean time is there anything I can give her to relieve the pain? Thank you! Shari :)

It seems like everytime I give my dog extra time out of his crate, he has an accident. I would love to have him out of crate more often, but I just can't trust him. He is 6 months old now, and he can hold "it" when he is in his crate for 6 hours. However every time I have him out he will have an accident if I don't take him every 20-30min.

We have a 15+ yr old yorkshire terrier. It's a long story, but here are the bullet points.

He was rescued from the pound 6 years ago and already had heart murmor and bad teeth. Approx 9yrs old then.
He has kidney disease and urniates on the carpet daily,
He's on meds and special diet dog food, costing $60.00/mo.
Our children are 2 1/2 yrs and 5mo old baby. He bit the 2 1/2 yr old yesterday, unprovoked.
He sleeps all day and can't climb stairs

It's hard to come to terms with the fact that he's probably not well. To look at him he looks fine. And he's still relatively social. Yesterday was the first time he's shown any aggression to the children.

My pup is 11 months old. Recently she has been limping when she gets up from a nap. Apart from this shes fine and is her crazy puppy like self. She is of a mixed breed the mom dog was a ckc spaniel cross shih tzu and the dad dog was a ckc spaniel cross pom. She has been the local vets and had a 1 week course of anti-inflamitaries and then another 5 week course, that she has just finished and is still limping. Has anyone has a similar problem or know what it could be? Thank You

that most of the people in this section are incredibly rude? a dog is a dog, whether it is from a "professional" breeder, or your so called, "backyard" breeder. if the results of two dogs breeding could be such a disaster God wouldn't have made them able to concieve puppies together. Damn I think i'll go back to the religious section. the people there are nicer than the ones here, and that ain't sayin' much

I have a serious question, I have 2 dogs, neither has shown signs of the parvovirus as of yet but they have both recently been around another dog who has tested positive for parvo, they have both been vaccinated and I am taking them today to both get boosters, do you think they could still get parvo? Is there anything else I can do?

I have 2 dogs, and my boyfriend has 2 dogs (we all live together). His dogs don't do this, but if someone even comes near me in a hostile way.. my dogs go nuts. They bark nonstop and attempt to bite the person until they back off.

I have a 1 y/o mini dachshund and a 4 y/o basset/beagle. My boyfriends dogs are border collie mixes.

When I asked my question about my Yorkie who died, everyone said dry food was not involved. It is and the list is growing.

my maltese puppy is 6 months old. i love him very much and have never ever been mean to him, but he is either extremely intelligent or extremely stupid. he reads my body language and runs away from me anytime he senses that i might put him in his little room or do any other thing that he doesn't want to do. i spend half my time trying to lure him with treats. btw, this doesn't work. he's so stubborn, he won't come even though he is dying to get ahold of the treat....i've tried a leash in the house. that is a major hassle. what should i do?

It's been a long time since I have had a dog do this, and can't remember what it signifies. He is up-to-date on all his heart worm meds, vaccinations, flea meds and such, does he need to be seen by my vet? He seems to be doing this on rare occassions.

I found a tick on my dog's forehead this morning and pulled it off. I think the fangs or whatever they are called stayed in my dog b/c I didn't see them on the tick. My dog is still a puppy, (chihuahua) is there anything I should do at this point? I'm really worried since it's on his head and close to his brain. Can the "fangs" cause an infection? What should I do?

I'm geting a female pomeranian in about two months. We (my parents and me) want to breed her to our male Pom-chi. My questions are, how old does she have to be before she can have her first litter, how long is the gestation period, and how do we keep the male from mating with her until she's old enough!

Thank You

I have a year old Shih-Tzu. She has had her second season and we are due to take her in to be spayed next month.
I have been told that it can change their personality, is this true?
I don't mean will it calm her down, I have been told that it can make them more feisty.

Everyone hates her but me and my brother. I kinda try to compensate for love and attention with my 10 mo old JRT. So my husband is resenting her because of it, he used to love her, and I can tell it hurts her that he hasn't paid any attention to her in 6+ months. She tries to get his attention by getting in his face and doing stuff she knows she isn't supposed to, but he just gets more mad at her because of that stuff. Is there any suggestions out there that I can try?

My live-in girlfriend and I went to the animal shelter today to look at getting a dog. We originally planned on getting a puppy, but I saw a dog that had there that was 4 or 5 years old. It was a lab mix. He was neutered, healthy, loved attention and well behaved. Didn't bark or try to jump up. She doesn't want him because it's an older dog. My thinking is this: there were people looking through there all the time. The puppies have a far better chance of finding a good home. This dog was already neutered and mature. He may have been older but he had plenty of good times left in him and would make a fine house and camping dog. Not many people seemed too interested in him and were more focused on puppies. Am I being unfair in that I want this dog over the puppy?

runs out of thier property and chases or bothers other who are walking thier dogs on leash?

I'm starting to get really frustrated with the people in my neighborhood. I walk my dogs on leash, and then have to try to "get away" from these loose dogs while the owners just stand there.

I'm not even nice anymore. One of my dogs is dog aggressive, which makes these encounters serious, stressful, and dangerous.

Why do people choose to just watch this happen until I finally have to yell at them to get their dog?
