Don't try to fatten him up. Its not healthy for him to be fat. He's still a puppy, so let him grow the way he's supposed to grow. A pit bull in prime condition should have nice muscle tone, but the ribs should be visible, and the tummy should not be fat.
Here is a good example of what a pit bull in top condition looks like:

Your pit bull is 6 months old hopefully you have been feeding the dog a puppy food puppy food has a higher fat and protein than adult dog food. They need to stay on puppy food til they are 1 yr old. When choosing a food look also at the ingredients. If it say whole corn or by -products(which are head feet and intestines) do not pick that food, it won't hurt them but basically has no nutritional value and comes out as waste. Also a food you buy at the supermarket is more than likely not a premium pet food. Go to a pet food store and purchase a premium food without the fillers. 2 kinds I use are Nutro Ultra large breed adult (they make it in puppy food too)and they have the highest levels of omega 3&6's for guarenteed better skin and coat no sugars or fillers, smaller firmer stools less clean up and the other I use when I can't get that is Natures balance duck and potato. I think you will find good results with either of these

It's not good for a dog to have a fat stomach! If the vet says he is in good shape, then I would just leave him alone.Really, fat dogs are prone to all kinds of problems when they get older, like arthritis, diabetes, heart problems.A thin( not skinny) dog is a healthy dog.

the look of a true APBT is thin. You are supposed to be able to easily see the ribs. They are working dogs and are not meant to be "Fat". Also your dog is only 9 months old. He is not even finished filling out yet, give him time.

I had the same issue with my abpt when he was young and i read in a book that they dont finish growing and filling out properly untill they are 3yrs old.
We found that Prota Pak was the food that filled him out best thou. I dont know what country your from but thats what we call it in Australia. Its like a long sausage roll that you cut up. kind of like Devon or Polony.

do not over nourish him as a puppy. most owners like yourself think that if you feed them more and put supplement crap in their food that it will be healthy and bulk them up when in fact you could be really hurting his health for later in life issues. i'm taking classes as a Vet Tech, it can be very harmful to your dog.
