When I asked my question about my Yorkie who died, everyone said dry food was not involved. It is and the list is growing.

You are wrong. Beneful had a recal in texas not nationwide and it had nothing to do with rat poison it was mold. It was also before the wheat gluton episode.

Added: huntsville texas purchased at walmart.

However the list is growing rapidly Imsure it won't be long everything will be on there.

Yes, I know. I believe Beneful killed MY DOG TOO! She was completely fine until she started that dog food and then died a few days later. I'm so angry. I mean, I called Purina a few days ago and asked if they've gotten any complaints, and they said no. I know for a fact that isn't true. LIARS!

I better see a big headline on CNN soon about how either Nestle/Purina or the FDA are recalling that damn food. It's been wayyy too long, since the complaints started last December, and my dog died unnecessarily. As well are your poor Yorkie :(:(:(:(

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry. I was probably one of the answerers that said that it wasn't the food. I am so sorry! I have never heard anything about Beneful being tainted...Until I came across your question. I did a little search about it and I found a link on it...The part about Beneful is at the very bottom of the page...

There is a "Read More" link after the story on the page...It has a bunch more stories of other people who had been feeding their pets Beneful who have gotten sick or died.

Hmmm. I wonder where you are getting your information, because I can't find anything about a Purina recall since 1995 (which involved foods not sold in the U.S.). While I think Beneful is crappy food and would never feed it to my dogs (well, maybe if they were going to starve to death otherwise), I would be careful about making slanderous accusations. If you have actual sources for making this statement, please share them.

ETA: So, there is a blurb on someone's personal blog and one at something called 'doggybling.com' who issued their own ultimatum to Purina? I don't see how this is hard evidence. And believe me, it galls me to defend Beneful.

Many wet and dry dog and cat foods have been recalled, as well as treats. If your dog is eating any commercial food you should be checking the list daily to ensure that your animal's food is not recalled.

You should also know the signs and symptoms associated with the current food problems, so you can determine if your dog should be getting veterinary care. Both Menu Foods and the FDA have relatively up to date information on the recall on their webpages.

At the very least, check the recall list that seems to be getting updated (and increased) daily.
As a side note, my Lab came down sick. Vet said she's having kidney and pancreas issues. Derived from chemical ingestion and not a bacterial issue. Strongly suggested most likely from food. she has been on a high priced kibble from a "quality(?)" producer.
Presently on I.V. in a animal hospital to flush out her system and will be on it for at least anouther day before a determination of effectiveness can be evaluated.
I urge EVERYONE to consider looking into the BARF diet where you have more control of quality.
This is going to possibly be very expensive IF she pulls through. I will never feed (trust) "Dog Food" to any of my animals again,,, ever.
Just a word to the wise.
Investigate RAW and BARF diets for your friends

Yes your information is right Beneful is being pulled from the shelf. Read it on www. howl 911.com there is a litte note about it. Purina is pulling it. They had until last friday to do it. I went to check WWW.Howl 911.com this morning And I saw the note and I was even shocked about it.
