It seems like everytime I give my dog extra time out of his crate, he has an accident. I would love to have him out of crate more often, but I just can't trust him. He is 6 months old now, and he can hold "it" when he is in his crate for 6 hours. However every time I have him out he will have an accident if I don't take him every 20-30min.

Every time you take him out of the crate take him outside. Give him a bite of a treat if he goes to the potty. Potty training takes tons of effort on your part. Also, the smaller the dog the harder they are to potty train. We have two one large and one small. The big dog took no time to train. The Bichon took FOREVER! Also, he may be pottying because he is excited or nervous. Get down to his level and pet or talk to him, this helps stop the piddling. You have to watch him closely to know when he needs to go out. Try and always use the same door to go potty that way eventually he will go to that door to alert you to his need! Good luck! Freedom comes with learning. W ait until he has learned before you attempt to leave him out. Also be sure everything is put up when you do leave him out because our dogs went from pottying to chewing. 8 years later we have two wonderful pets!

don't leave him in there all the time. Just take him out more frequently. He is still a puppy, try to watch the water intake and keep him close to you. You need to confine him to the same room you are in so he cannot run away and hide to go pee. if the room has no doors, try leashing him to a chair or something. At least he won't be in the crate all the time and if he has an accident you know where the mess will be and won't accidentally step in it. Just give it time, he is a puppy. don't just put him in there all the time.

He's still too young for unsupervised play time. If you let him out of his crate, take him straight outside, make sure he pees and poops, bring him inside and keep him WITH you. The easiest way is to buy a 6 foot nylon leash and tie him to your belt. Whatever you have to do, don't let him run free in your home. At his age, he does still need potty breaks at least every hour or two, and especially if you see him drinking a lot. Regular meals are also very important- same amount, same time, every time. Since he's a puppy still, limit treats as much as possible.

Good luck!

Take him out for a long walk before you leave him.

Then set him up in a room, like the kitchen with a little bed or something...put up a gate. Try this a couple times if you are going to be away for like an hour or two. Gradually increase the amount of time you leave him in that room.

you first of all need to pick him up right out of the crate and take him directly out.
You also have to limit his water. you are not supposed to give water freely to puppies under a year because their bladders are not able to hold much and they are not able to regulate how much they drink
they should get 1/4 cup every other hour even if they drink it up fast. At 6 mons they have changing bladders as well
don't give up

I even have had to swap crates many cases because of bringing in new canines. you have not have been given lots time nevertheless earlier the recent one is presented in. in case you fairly want her out you are able to desire to start finding out her to be certain if she particularly waiting devoid of destroying something. enable her out a million-2 hours via herself collectively as you run errands. If she does something you understand she isn't waiting. If she does not do something the subsequent time upload a million -2 hours. If she does positive in the lengthy run you're able to go away the crate out for her as this became her den. be sure you introduce the canines outdoors on impartial grounds. as quickly as the preliminary greeting is complete you are able to then convey the recent one interior. in the event that they get alongside once you're there they are going to be positive via themselves. i think of if your canine continues to be chewy she continues to be to youthful to be ignored of the crate. the issue which you've got is you will not understand who did what once you have 2. reliable luck
