Mine does it alot, though hers is a little dark yellow. For some reason, she does it when she gets stressed or overly excited, which happens a lot. (She's a toy) God help us if she doesn't do every time the mail man comes near the house..

Any number of things could be wrong. If she has a cold, she is just coughing that up. If she's been to the kennel or around other dogs, it could be kennel cough, which is gross with the bile stuff, but not dangerous. It goes away be itself in about a week. She may just have an upset stomach, so take her outside to see if she eats grass. If so, try giving her rice and hamburger (cooked). It almost always settles a tummy down. If none of that works and she keeps thowing up, it may be something more serious and you may need to go to the vet. But wait a couple of days unless she seems to have a fever or a bloated or sore stomach. If she has either of those, get her to a vet pronto! Good luck.

Certainly take to the vet if it happens again.

It does sound like bile, which is often mucousy or even foamy. Vomiting is not that unusual in young puppies, they have sensitive stomachs - but even so it needs to be sorted if it goes on for more than 24 hours, or if there are any other symptoms such as diarrhoea, as the dog will be dehydrated and in a worse state by this time.

As for what's wrong - the list is so long I barely know where to start - different food, irritable bowel syndrome, parvo, blockage, foreign object, idiopathic enteritis, poisoning, bacterial infection, worms, allergies.... it goes on. The cause of vomiting in puppies is often not discovered, but that doesn't mean it can't be treated.

Keep a close eye!

My dog is 3 years old and if he gets into the garbage or I give him a new treat (he has never had before) he throws-up and for hours after he throws up that yellow sticky looking bile. He also gets car sick very easy, we have to keep a barf bag in the car all the time and give him gravol sometimes.lol. My vet said that he has a sensitive stomach and after about a few hours it go away. My dog even does it when he is nervous about something. Hope this helps, if it starts and your dog can't seem to stop or there is blood in it, my vet told me to bring the dog in. Hope this helps.

Yes, I would check the recall list!!! Can't be to safe now days!!!! I have a 3 month old puppy and she will throw up at times if she eats things she should not. But usually you will see what they have eaten when they throw it up and yes bile can be yellow. Your puppy could have worms. You might want to take a stool specimen if you take your dog to the Vet. which now days would be a great idea.
Good Luck

hiya! i work for the rspca..and this yellow mucus you are talking about is most likely from a lak of water...eating grass or from excitement...those are the most likely ones..if you dont think it is any of these then it sounds like your dog is tryin to get rid of something that shoudlnt be there..if the mucus gets clearer then the dog is doin her job by throwing it up..if it gets more yellow with throffy bits in it i suggest you take her to the vets as this could be something wrong with the lungs..but as you dog is so young i doubt that there is anything wrong at all..dont worry she should be fine :)

I have a Corgi who throws up if people give him things they think he'll like but not intended for dogs, perhaps yours has a sensitive stomach like mine does, the yellow is usually bile, if she continues then I'd have her seen by a vet to rule out anything serious. dogs also can get viruses just like humans, that last nasty flu that hit Arkansas went threw my whole family including my dog...Good Luck

Chances are he got into something he shouldn't have. And it might just be a one time thing. My dog has thrown up mucus type vomit, two times in a row. If it continued I would have taken her into the vet, but she seemed fine afterward, didn't have a loss of appetite or seem lethargic. As long as he doesn't seem lethargic or lose his appetite I'd just keep an eye on it.

My two year old chihuahua actually threw up some yellowy mucusy stuff the other day to. I think his stomach was just upset because when he was a puppy he did it once to. I asked my vet about it and they said he probably just didn't feel good maybe he had a little virus. Nothing to be worried about though your dog will be fine.
