I have a 5 year old female miniature schnauzer that weighs just under 5 lbs. When I brought the cat into the household he started suckling on the dog. He was 6-8 weeks old when I got him, and started nursing on the dog from day one. It was weird and cute at the same time when he was younger, but now he has gotten bigger than the schnauzer. The cat won't stop nursing on the dog no matter how many times I get on to the sickos. I don't want to put the thought into the dog's mind that nursing is bad, in case she has some pups of her own. The schnauzer has not been in heat since the whole thing began around 8 or 9 months ago, and I think she just likes being a mom. I want to breed the schnauzer and haven't found a way to keep the two from going at it. The dog just walks up and puts it in his face. I have thought about getting one of those dog sweaters to cover up her nipples, but I can't help but think that there is something else I can do to "wean" the cat. Please help.

We're ready to rehome this puppy, and I hate to give up. 5 month old female Pomerianian, apparently doesn't empty her bladder when she goes. Example, goes on rug, we run her outside, she goes again, then once again once back in the house. Walk her every 30 minutes, she has peed about 7 times in the last 2/12 hours. What's going on? No hope?

I have 2 leonbergers and they are one of the most awesome dogs I have ever met. I fell in love with them several years ago and finally adopted 2, We just had a litter a few weeks ago and they are just great. I was just wondering how many people on this board have ever even heard of them. They are very rare in the US but fairly popular over seas. They are a cross with St Bernards and Newfies with a touch of pyranese (spelling). They really are Gentle Giants!

My peke is so picky and has gotten to the point that she just turns her nose up at dog food. So we got some chicken breasts and boiled them until tender, cooked some rice and added some green peas. The combined the mixture and made little food "packets" for her meals. Is this a decent alternative to dog food?

Hi All,
I am the owner of a beautiful german shepherd named Maya. She is 8 years old and very smart and affectionate. As she is getting older I am starting to worry about her health. She is perfectly healthy but she is getting up there is age. I read that the average life span is 10 years, does anyone have any older shepherds. She luckily has a straight back and won't have to worry about hip displaysia. Also I have noticed that she hates barking, she acts like it is unpleasant, and only barks when someone knocks on the door. Is this unusual. I am new at owning a dog as she is my husbands dog and I have known her only 3 years. So any info you guys can give me about german shepherds would be fantastic. Have a great day!

So I asked the ? about how much GSD pups sell for...I have the papers for both the dam and sire, and a pedigree for the dam but how do I know if they have "quality dogs" in their pedigree...all it has is the names and numbers of the dogs. Is there a website that you can go to and type that in and it will tell you about the dogs or is there another way to know??.....and dont be a smart a**!!! I just need a little bit of a guide as this is our first litter....everyone has to start somewhere so dont act like you were just born with the knowledge!

I have a pitbull/lab puppy that my neigbor gave to me. I shouldnt have accepted but Im a sucker for puppies. He is soooo cute 2months old.. blonde coat w/ matching eyes. I wanted to keep him but Im afraid of the "pit" part.. i have a 5yr old daughter, plus I have 2 other puppies (a chiweenie=chihuhua/weeniedog + a st. bernard mix) and my chiwennie is so afraid of him. I could use the extra money, so i just wanted to know how much should i sell him for? He doesnt have any papers or anything like that. He's too precious. Also I want to sell to someone that will not fight him, thats another reason I want to sell him instead of giving him away for free. Im going to give half the $ to my neigbor. How much do you think is a fair price?

I have an 11 month old staff, and somebody has asked whether he could be mated with her 3 year old ***** staff. I wondered how you went about this. Is he too young, would the vet have to see him and her first. What is the procedure? Where do you go to mate them, what happens? Sorry, but i am clueless about this!
thanks for reading.

He is a 8 month old border collie/ pit bull. He is currently on chicken soup for the dog lovers soul. He started that about 3 weeks ago but I noticed an extreme change in his engergy level. He couldn't sit still before but not its crazy. Its a battle to put on his leash. Someone suggest he may be getting too much protein. Any suggestion of good puppy food or good puppy food with lower amounts of protein?
