I have 2 leonbergers and they are one of the most awesome dogs I have ever met. I fell in love with them several years ago and finally adopted 2, We just had a litter a few weeks ago and they are just great. I was just wondering how many people on this board have ever even heard of them. They are very rare in the US but fairly popular over seas. They are a cross with St Bernards and Newfies with a touch of pyranese (spelling). They really are Gentle Giants!

Yes..........wonderful intelligent dog!!! Did you know the breed almost died out during world wars 1 and 2 The few dogs dogs that were left were bred very carefully,although today the Leonberger is still relatively rare, but it is gaining in numbers and popularity!!. We have a Leonberger Club of Great Britain!!!

I love the leonbergers. I asm currently opening a breeding facility for newfies, and I hope to eventually branch out into the leons!

I've heard of them but never seen one in person. I had a mixed breed who looked like a leonberger without a tail at one time (although i'm sure he wasn't one). They look like nice dogs.

They are gorgeous! There was one that came to a kennel I used to work at, and I saw a guy with his Leonberger at PetCo a few months ago.

I have heard of the breed but never had the opportunity to work with one. I do not know anyone who ownes one here.
They are a great looking dog anf i would love to be able to work with one someday.

Have heard of them, seen several of them, met several, great dog, very sweet - but then, oddly you'll find that mastiff type breeds are all very gentle and sweet...
