He is a 8 month old border collie/ pit bull. He is currently on chicken soup for the dog lovers soul. He started that about 3 weeks ago but I noticed an extreme change in his engergy level. He couldn't sit still before but not its crazy. Its a battle to put on his leash. Someone suggest he may be getting too much protein. Any suggestion of good puppy food or good puppy food with lower amounts of protein?

I found a great food....that my boxer is on. Canidea all life stages.. no by products whatsoever...however I would offer this advice to you look on this web site... www.dogfoodanalisis.com . Foods are rated out of six stars. This is the best site to go onto. you want meal form ingredients, and at least the top 5 ingredients should be meal forms...
also stay away from the purina, iams, eukaneba,(however its spelt,) the typicall grocery store foods...long run problems, 1 star rated...you wouldn't eat mcdonalds every night would you...
good luck.. ps. stay away from royal canin, the advertise a great food, but there is one ingredient in particular that is aka...saw dust... not only that, but other ingredients may cause a lot of stress to kidney, liver, cause yeast infections, ear infections, and allergies....This is the food I first started my dog on....till of course someone told me to check out that web site.....

Nutro Natural Choice- I use it for my 5 month old golden retriever. It's not loaded with unneccessary grains and starches (that go through a dog like nothing) and it's packed with nutrients in carrots, lamb, and other veggies. She loves it, too. It's an independent brand, so they won't sell it at a grocery store. Try Petsmart.

Ive got my rotty/lab mix on Nutro large breed puppy. We switched from Science Diet and have had excellent results.

Go to the pet store and check the packaging though-best way would be to look yourself if youre concerned about something in particular. They all have protein values listed.

All the menu foods items are a bit on the sketchy side so a brand I would go for Merricks (no by products at all in their food plus they can their own food) my dogs have been on this and love it, plus it's healthier. Another one I would recommend is Royal Canin.

Have you heard? Dog food is killing dogs all around the US! If you want safe puppy food you have to look in the right places. You can go to herb stores to buy pure dog food for decent prices. There are websites that tell you what dog food is bad, and there are lots!!! KEEP YOUR PUPPY SAFE FROM LIVER FAILURE!!!!! :[ Would that not be horrible? Warning others is greatly appreciated.

I give my dog Eukenuba-they have certain dry foods specifically for certain breeds-with the nutrients that your breed needs.
