i have a 5 year old beagle, female will be spayed soon and got it fom rescue, its been a month now with us.im giving her all the TLC ,we even sleep side by side at day time, but how come when at night where she shld. be in her kennel and not even once we parted our goodnights in peace, i have to push her to get her in,and in a few minutes she will start barking. i used to squirt a water on her head and will be timid in a few minutes and later back again in barking.(squirting water advised was got from yahoo answers too.)and i think its effective during day time out from kennel when i let her see the sprayer she gonna move away. is it because im too close to her?another thing is when im out from her sight she will look fo me inside the house and stay with my side.when im completely away from home even if she is withsomeone .shell bark and bark an later will be hushed with squirting of water. im getting fed of with her atttitude during those events.please advise what to do,please..

I'm really interested in it. Does someone know a good website or book on it and if you know enough can you tell me about it and it's main views. I heard it didn't agree with socialisation.

I was recently contacted by an online friend who asked me to research something for her. She had a rottweiler who was kept outside, and was up-to-date on all shots (according to her, I don't know what is standard where she lives). She said that they came home today to find her laying in the yard....her back end was covered in blood and she was having seizure-like spasms. She said she was still alive, but very cold. The poor dog had to be put down, but she's left wondering what happened to her. She's wondering if maybe someone poisoned her dog with something. I've tried Googling this and haven't had much luck, so I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone knows anything. Thanks in advance for the input. (Oh, I'm probably going to suggest that she have a necropsy done on the dog, but I don't know if she can afford it.)

my dog had a real bad build up of mucus in his eye. so i went to the vet supply to see what they had. the 2 choices were a eye drop med with what im pretty sure was a steroid. it also said it helped reddness more then anything else, but it did say it also covered infections.my limited knowledge lead me to think a steroid would not really do much as an anti biotic, which i would think i would need instead of worrying if his eye was red or not. but the stuff i chose is making him not even be able to open his eyes.its making it worse .its a powder belive it or not.it says it can be put in the eyes or ears.its mainly for livestock.it says to spray a sufficient amount in the affected area. 2 - 3 x's a day for 5 to 7 days. it says it cures just about everything.each 100 g = acrilflavina 1.1 g
sulfatiazol 5.2 acido borico c.h.p.100
sulfanlamida 3.5 calomel 5.0

He isn't in pain. I just want to hear from other Spaniel owners about their experience with this eye problem. I don't want to wait too long to get medical help if needed; also don't want to spend huge bucks for unnecessary vet trips. Any tips?

The area you live in makes it impossible to even get heartworms? If more people knew that a mosquito first has to feed on an animal infected with heart worm then the temperature has to stay above 20C at ALL TIMES for 14 days for the heartworm microfilirae to reach the L3 larval stage and migrate into the mosquitos proboscis where it can infect another animal that the mosquito feeds on. If the temp drops in that time below 14C the process stops and has to start all over again and mosquitos only live for 30 days.. So in an area where the temperature never in recorded history has stayed above 20C for 14 days it is impossible for heartworm to be transmitted. If thats the case then why do vets tell ppl living in that area to give their dogs unecessary medication when its impossible to get heartworm because the environment is not conducive to the parasite reaching its infective stage? I live in Northern Canada by the way..

My St. Bernard(sp) has been throwing up since 9:00pm Eastern Time. My parents have taken her to the vet, they are there now. But can anyone tell me what the cause of this could be?
She first threw up about 4 times on Wednesday, then we haven't seen her throw up anything since last night (sunday evening). Not sure if she was eating her throw up and and that is why we didn't see or it what.
We are thinking she is so thin because maybe she has been throwing up since wednesday. She is unable to keep anything down. She will binge eat so much food, then drink lots of water and throw it up. After she throws that up she drank more water and threw up, for 2 hours she continued to drink almost a gallon of water and then throw it up over an dover agian until no more peices of food are in her throw up, it's nothin but water now.

If my dog had a can of the pet food that was recalled how long would it actually take for it to take effect? I have three dogs and I only once in a while feed them the cuts in gravy cans and i gave them a can of it a couple of days ago. If they had eaten a bad batch would i see some signs immediately? They are all still eating fine running around drinking regularly, their renal functions seem fine. what im trying to say is is this something that could take effect a week later or is it pretty much immediatE?

My puppies (5 month old pugs) have been on one of the recalled foods (Nutro Natural Choice canned chicken, rice, and oatmeal puppy), and they have both be very sick for the last two weeks. They have been seen by the vet multiple times, and they have tested negative for parvo and all internal parasites. With a change of food to Hills prescription i/d and antibiotics they have gotten better, but now the female is peeing a lot. She will pee every 10-15 minutes and it looks like water. She is also drinking more, but she is acting fairly normal. Is it kidney damage?

I have already called the vet, but he says that since she is acting okay she can wait until tomorrow . He said that he cannot say if it is from the kidneys until he sees bloodwork, but are those the symptoms of it?
