Our dog is a 13 yr old mixed breed. Over the past year we have spent over a $1000 on vet bills for repeat ear infections. They give her meds and it goes away. It always comes back. We cannot afford to keep doing this. We have to put off a utility bill to take her to the vet this week. Not to mention that she is miserable. Are there any home remedies or over the counter people meds that we can try?

I am going to call the vet when they open but I wanted to know if someone might know what this is. He has bumps around his mouth and one by his nose. The best way to explaing them is that they look kinda like really bad cold sores. His one eye also looks like it may be bothering him and last night had gunk coming out of it. I also noticed he has what would be the same as swolen glands in a human. One side is bigger than the other. He has 9 siblings and none of the other ones have this on them. They are still in the whelping box that I can daily with lysol/water mix, I change the papers out every 1/2 hour except at night and if I am gone(which isn't for very long). The bottom of the box is covered with a table cloth but the sides(which are wood is not covered. Any help would be appecaited.

My dog suffers from Lupus. As a result she is on a corti-steroid called Medrol. She was on Prednisone at one point as well. In both cases, the medication caused her bladder to leak.

I started doing some research online and found a couple medications with Saw Palmetto and Soy Isoflavones and key ingredients to control bladder muscle tone.

I will say that I have had my dog on small doses for the past 3 days and her "leaking" has stopped. That being said, I am looking for the safe dosage amount that will not be toxic to my dog.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PS I have contacted the vet and they've ok'd her taking this OTC herbal pill. I am currently basing my dosage off of a multi-herb pill used to treat bladder problems in dogs...however, I bought Saw Palmetto and the Soy Isoflavones seperately...and so that is why I'm wondering what the max safe dosage amount is...

I'm picking her up tomorrow, shes 6 weeks old. The problem is I have four more dogs: (chihuahua 2yrs old, german shepard mutt 2yrs old, terrier mutt 3yrs old, and a schnauzer 6yrs old). We have a house and a back yard. I've read alot about how they get bossy, but I read things about my other dogs and it just hasn't been true. Since she's a puppy...can I mold her to like my other dogs? They are all females....any advise?

I have a 5 year old jack russel who is extremely fit and healthy. My dad bought the senior dog food by mistake. The senior dry food has extra milk essentials and stuff and i thought that it wasn't good to give it to my dog. I told dad to donate the food to the local dog shelter but my neightbour said it wouldn't make a difference as the dog turns 7 next year. but that's a whole year away and 7 is the minimum senior age and my dog is really healthy. We donated the food anyway. Would it have not made a difference or been bad?

My dog is a mixed breed. She is 8 months old. Several times a week she gets me up at like 3AM to go out. I take her out and she starts chomping down on grass. I bring her back in, an hour later she wants to go out again and eat more grass. I hear her stomach making all sorts of noises.

I know it's okay for dogs to eat grass, but it's not okay for me to be getting up at 3:00, 4:00 and then 5:00 AM.

I've stopped giving her treats and table scraps. But is there something I can give her to aid in her digestion? Anything over the counter or do I need to go to the vet?

She's fine otherwise, no problems. She plays and has a healthy appetite etc.

Hi my partner and I recently adopted a jack russel puppy that just lovves to jump and bite his only 10 wks old or so wehave tried spraying him with a water spray can like hair dressers use, but he likes it and drinks it. Its only when you spray his face like 50 times 3o centimetres away he responds and tries to jump at it. We've said "no" a dozen times. Although his a smart dog and already sits when told to he just loves to play bite and its rather annoying. How do we teach him not to bite, we do not encourage him to do so but his just a playful puppy. we also tried tapping his nose not overly firm and saying "no". and rolled up news paper. He has lots of toys lol and plenty of space to run and play aswell and is excerised.

his names louie and his 10wks old jack russel.

Stray dogs in many places are in sarrow conditions..specially the puppies are left in pitiable environments if the mother is a victim of rat bite or some infection..many of the neighbours of the locality see them they may feed them at times with the left overs but when it comes to treat them when they are sick they turn around saying that is dangerous some of the children(the spoiled ones) will throw stones at the puppies or chase them with sticks I have even witnessed a grown up adult burning a stray dog when he was high!!

What the law is brainwashing ? they live with their animal instinct and punish this poor creatures by arguments and show offs? Can't the government catch them & leave them in a forest or a open space and protect them? If goverment gives me a free space and some funds I am ready to take care of these dogs..Is anyone ready to come forward? I appeal to all the doglovers let us unite and save this wonderful human beings great friend..I wish the dog talks...Save them.

My partner insists he hears foxes howling at night. Is this possible? I thought they only bark when prowling and searching for a mate. Surely howling is something only dogs can do?

It is possible that he was the "runt" of the litter, because his sister from the same litter was a bit larger than him when I got him. He is suppossedly 1/2 chihuahua and 1/2 rat terrier and currently about 10lbs. I am not sure about his age.

my vet told me that my labrador puppies are mixed breed, because of there color.. i have a black labrador, he has a small white spot on his chest and small white hairs on his fingers on his feets. while my yellow labrador has a white combining with little bit spot of yellow. they really look like a labrador but my vet told me that a labrador has a solid color, like a black has a solid black coat, a yellow is a solid yellow to light yellow coat. i dont know how to see if they are pure. they have no papers. thanks in advance for the answers.
