Well from my experiance with these kind of dogs yes.
The gas is caused from the dog not digesting his food properly and is caused from gulping to much air in when he eats.
If you are feeding a corn based food this will contribute to the gas problem. Feeding a dog food with no corn soy and beet pulp would be best. Also feeding the dog twice a day would help
Adding a bit of plain yogurt in the dog food at each feeding will help the dogs gas problem.

Dobes are known to be pretty smelly at times.
Sugar in some of the food they eat can cause it to be worse.
Check waht you give as treats and cut down on the treats as most of those are junk food for dogs. Some dogs fed on a high quality diet are gassy from the food in general. Some are better than others.
I feed a high quality diet no corn or wheat or soy no by products and all natural perservatives and sometimes my Dobe can clear the room. He thinks it is funny. He will come and sit y you fart then move. He will look at you from across the room.
They can be characters.

All the dobies I know have bad gas, including my own, and I have her on Wellness dog food. Feeding a higher quality food does lessen the amount of gas, but it still happens. My dobie tends to do it when she gets really excited b/c one of my friends is stopping by. They don't seem to understand that she really doesn't normally have that bad of gas, it's only when they are around. She burps too.

LMAO!!! Oh man... Almost all big dogs have really bad gas from time to time and a lot of it depends on diet and age. There are also chances he's eating grass outside because he's sick to his tummy and it's causing him to have bad gas. Something to try is changing his dog food, I don't know what you're feeding him now but you could try Hill's Science Diet for large breeds. I know my German Shepard doesn't have bad gas any more since he's been on the formula. Good luck to you!!

dogs are like a human, we are just as good if not better at "GAS" emitting as a dog, my dog doesn't, but if i happen to do it my dog will whimper LOUDLY,and runs away sneezing its poor head of, at work, i can get insects to literally fall of the walls, so your encounter was just right placewrong time etc. etc. p.s. my dog does it only, when eating, chicken stuffing! trouble is he loves it to bits!!

Obviously you don't exercise your dog enough, and a change of diet is due.
