Baby, says one answerer? A dog is not a baby, a dog is an animal! But I agree, do be careful how you advertise because animals given away free can end up with unscrupulous owners who will treat them badly. I'd advise your friend to go to the new owner's home and check it out, and if it feels wrong, don't give the dog away to them.

take a picture along with a medical history to your vets office...most of the time they will let you post it free....and may know someone..also the vet usually knows who does and does not take care of their animals..try a breed specific rescue..such as

they usually are very knowledgeable and will very often take the dog into a foster home immediately until a suitable permanent home can be located...they also can evaluate the dog so the best home will be found...PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE DOG DOWN!!!

Yes go to www.dogzonline.com.au (great place for rehoming, and have breed rescuers there)
When you advertise on the net, beware of scammers they are from Nigeria or Cameroon, they say they will send you a cheque and it will be for more than the amount and they will ask you to send them the difference, then the cheque bounces and you're out of pocket.

whatever you decide to do please be careful with your "free dog" ad, this is a very common way horrible research labs get test animals. good luck
