My puppies (5 month old pugs) have been on one of the recalled foods (Nutro Natural Choice canned chicken, rice, and oatmeal puppy), and they have both be very sick for the last two weeks. They have been seen by the vet multiple times, and they have tested negative for parvo and all internal parasites. With a change of food to Hills prescription i/d and antibiotics they have gotten better, but now the female is peeing a lot. She will pee every 10-15 minutes and it looks like water. She is also drinking more, but she is acting fairly normal. Is it kidney damage?

I have already called the vet, but he says that since she is acting okay she can wait until tomorrow . He said that he cannot say if it is from the kidneys until he sees bloodwork, but are those the symptoms of it?

Some antibiotics will cause them to drink/pee more. Also, for some diarrhea problems vets give steroids, which makes them pee more. Not sure what your dogs had or what treatment your vet did.

Drinking/peeing more is part of kidney damage, but not all of it. You should have bloodwork as soon as possible, and look for increased BUN/Creat. Hope that is nothing too serious. Good luck!

Maybe it is bladder infection - the female dog get it easier than the male dog because he is standing up when peeing. Don't think it is kidney failure because my dog had it. The symptoms my dog had was: he doesn't want to eat or drink water. If he is eating he wants to bring it up again, he is weak just want to lay still.
But please take your dog to the vet so your dog can be check out.
