My yorkie-poo is in heat for the second time and we plan to breed her, we want to know when the most successful time to breed her would be. We would like her to have puppies and not a false preganancy.

The apartment is about 1,000 sq ft. I will be living about 5 minutes away from work. I work about 40-42 hours a week. I've always had company of dogs while living at home (I have 12 year old and 3 year old labs). These apartments are dog friendly. Should I get a dog? (most likely another lab puppy) for company or is it just a flat out bad idea? I generally feel sad/lonely without one of my dogs, and Im not a cat person at all. Please advise. Thank you!

I have a Bichon girl named Evie. She is a year and one month old...she is such a sweetie and she is just beautiful !! We traveled about 4 hours to get her from a champion breeder in Long Island, NY...It was worth it and she is such a blessing to our family !

I have a male blue heeler. His name is Cowboy Gus. We are real southerners...from Tenn. He's only 10 weeks old. Today we got a little girlie blue heeler to later breed. She's 8 weeks old. I'm looking for a good southern name. It's important to me cause it'll be on her breeding papers. It can be 2 names together. I once had a dog named Wyatt like Wyatt Earp - if that tells you about my taste. It can be off a movie. (Just not Daisy....I've already had one of those before.) Thanks in advance.

We tell him no. We give him things to chew on and toys. He plays with these for about 10 minutes and then starts biting on us again. I have had 4 other German Shepherds in the past and none of them were this bad. Any suggestions?

We have two 10 month old pomeranians. Only in the last week has the male started to be aggresive towards the female, particullary with food. We place his down first, but then he wont let her eat hers, growling when she tries to get near her bowl. She now is scared to eat and starts to cry. I have tried feeding her inside and him outside but i think thats making it worse. He also will turn on her and bite her for no reason occasionally. Obviously it is to do with jelousy, but i dont know how to fix it?

I bought my gf a dog for x mas we bought it from a shelter and have had it since x mas. all we have done was love it and do what we needed to do when it went to the bathroom in my house. I take it out every 3 hrs or so. or when we go to bed i take her out before we go to bed and also take away her food an hr or 2 before hand. i mean she has no reason for doing this. I will be 16 years old next week. We have 14 dogs (mostly outside. we breed dogs) that I help out with. I really want a puppy of my own for my 16th birthday. I want a Yorkie so it won't be a large dog. I have a steady job to pay for vet bills and puppy needs. I want to convince my parents that I can handle a dog of my own. Any ideas?

He is a chihuahua and we have been attending classes at Petsmart for training and stuff. Our trainer taught the class this technique:
Hold a treat in front of their face and bring it slowly over their head until they are looking up, which supposedly naturally makes them sit. Then you give them the treat.
The same technique is described in my book, Chihuahua for Dummies (which I highly recommend).
BUT he will. not. sit. No matter what I do... He jumps up, turns around, or forgets about the treat entirely. We tried putting a hand behind his but so that when he backs up he sits, but he wont do that.
Does anyone have another technique that worked for them? Thanks!

me and my husband were "doing it" this morning. and he asked me if they could smell the what we were doing. and that got me thinking..do they?
i think one of then, they are both females was watching us...
i dont like to kick them outa the room, i feel bad cause they just stand by the door and wait til the door opens.
this morning i was so caught up in my husband that i not realize that she was on the bed, usually they just go under the bed. i noticed til we were done. once i caught the same one licking on one of my undies, on the crotch part. i also cannot leave the bathroom door open cause next thing i know she is going thru the dirty toilet paper, and ripping it. she has done this with my used sanitary napkins, and sweaty sports bra....whats up with her?

So here's the deal, my dog is a little under two years old, a beagle and either rottweiler or german shepard mix. He's a very intelligent dog, but he takes food from anywhere. We left a bag of bread on a table pushed back against the wall today, he took it and ate the entire thing, including part of the plastic. We thought he'd grow out of it but he really isn't. When he does things like that, he'll go hide under the table because he knows he's done wrong. Then when we find out, he runs over to his cage where we make him stay for a bit until he can come out again. He acts very sad and distraught when he comes out, meaning he remembers he messed up, but he'll do the same thing the next time it's possible! He won't do it in front of anyone, but the moment you leave a room, he's jumping up on tables to get food. It's getting ridiculous, he stole a steak the other day! What do we do to stop this behavior? Because yelling at him and putting him in the cage do not work, thank you!

I have 2 dogs that i really love so much. But the problem is my mom and step-dad want to get rid of them because they are outside and they fight a lot and they always bark at each other. They are only like 5 months old and i love them dearly. they are my babies and they are my responisiblieties to look after them and give them fresh water and feed them and i really dont want to give them away. How do i convince my mom and step-dad to let me kepp them, and how do i get them to stop fighting? HINT HINT: they are both males and they aren't fixed.
