The name in front of the dogs name is the breeder or kennel. With a little research it shouldnt be too hard to find information on them. Especially if they are a well renowned or reputable breeder/kennel.

It depends what kind of information about the family of your dog that you are looking for. If you would like to know the pedigree of your dog you can purchase it from the AKC. The form for that should be on the back of your AKC papers. I am pretty sure it goes back to 5 years.

Go to this site here. http://www.caninefamilytree.com/ They do great pedigree's. You will have to pay for this, but you can call them with the breed of your dog before you order a pedigree from them. With the GSD's they do a great pedigree, they put all the titled dogs in red on the pedigree, and list all the title's, OFA's, "a" stamp's, ect... on every dog in the pedigree including what country they are from. I like this better than the AKC pedigree's with our breed, as the AKC does not list foreign titles on their pedigrees.

For a fee, you can order a pedigree or family tree of your dog. Call the AKC or visit their website and order one. You can get, I think, three, four, or five generations.
