no seriously, not a riddle, my friend's dog got locked out of her hous and she's been missing for 4 days now. How can i help her find her dog?

All the above answers are great, only thing I would add is besides calling your local shelters, is call outside your area. You never know how far the dog could have gotten. Also fax/email the further shelters a picture and check the local shelters yourself. It's amazing how often you can call looking for a certain dog (example a chihuahaha) and they will tell you no, you go in and look and theres the dog, the animal control officers sometimes do not recognize certain breeds so I would look myself. call vet's offices, many people who find a dog might bring them there if it's injured. Call the animal shelfters and let them know the dog is lost so they can call if it's found.
