It's instinctive. In the wild they would circle around to crush down vegetation to make a bed for them to sleep.

I thought you'd never ask. Dogs (most canines) carry instincts with them from their ancestors who turned in circles to mat down the tall grass to make a bed. Some habits took centuries to develope and may take as many centuries to undo.

it is natural for then to do this because there ancestors did this. there ancestor they lived in the wild and there a stick and rock on the ground an they try to get them out of the way so that they have a nice area to lay down on.

because in the wild they had to smash down the grass or whatever it was they were sleeping on. animals retain some of their wild instincts.
