Dogs - February 2007

my lab has lost his hair he has had past istory of this I thought it was yeast from the dog food but after changing his food he still had the same problem. took him to the vet and spent $500.00. We had a very cold day and I put hay-straw in his pen and his hair started to shed ok so now i stripped the pen from the hay and he looks a Mess! Do I need to get Black oil and rub over him or what do I do he stays itchy sounds crazy but I gave him Benadrill. PLEASE HELP!

I'd also prefer to avoid puppy mills. We don't have a dog, but we live in a very animal-friendly home. We have 3 cats that are very friendly and good around dogs, and a parrot that doesn't do anything and I'm not a fan of.

I am dogsitting my step dad's lhasa who is around 6 years old. I have had the dog for a few days and I am having a problem with him going to the bathroom in the house. I have followed the schedule that my parents gave me for walking him pretty much exactly but he still is going to the bathroom in the middle of the night in the house. The problem is that he wont go to the bathroom for me when I bring him outside to walk him. I am wondering if any one has any suggestions on how to get him to go when I bring him out so that he doesnt go in the house. Another problem is that it is really cold here (as in it was -11 F when I walked him this morning and that isnt counting the windchill) and has been since I got him and I physically cant stay outside with him for more than 20 minutes because he starts shaking. Any ideas? I cant have him going to the bathroom in my house!!

I have a really important question. I just got a dog. Lab/Terrior Mix. She's about ~11 weeks. Anyways, she chunky and healthy looking. Today, she had an accident on the floor. I picked it up and on teh bottom there were three white slug looking things. Pretty accurate to this: <====> They were an actual white color though, not clear. I've had plenty of pets and I've never seen that before. Any idea what this could be?

My pomeranian Keke looks so scared all the time. And I don't know why, my mom thinks that there are demons in the house again, and she just doesn't act right anymore. Keke used to always run around the house happily and I can't even turn out the lights at night without her having a scared look. And when I go to school she always make me open up the bible and say a prayer before leaving. She refuses to leave my room when I'm not home, I even had to buy her a litterbox! And when I come home I find her under the covers alot. She follows me everywhere cause she knows I won't let nothing happen to her, but now she's to me like glue. Any one know how to get her to not be so scared?

I have a yorkie poodle mix and she has floppy yorkie ears I was looking at yokie care sites just for tips and stuff, and i keep seeing sites on how to make thier ears stand up... i dont care what her ears look like as long as she is healthy and happy, but now im worried does it benefit her health to have her ears stand up?

I have a cocker spaniel which I adopted about 6 mos ago. But as soon as she gets over an ear infection she has another one. My vet tells me to keep her ears clean with the solution I have... but she hates me putting anything in her ears. She starts biting and barking. Now she has another ear infection and the only thing she will let me do is massage her ears. My pockets are running on empty with buying meds that she shakes out of her ears... HELP!
