I went to buy a dog today and I was already gonna pay but my card was on hold, so I am going back for it tomorrow morning. Anyhoo, It was a 3 month old male Yorkshire Terrier, neutered, and cost $2,500, and it has all its Papers, but it had a hernia. I was wondering if thats a bad thing? If it affects his life span? Can it happen again? Is it a good idea to pay that much? PLease let me know anything you know about hernias. And if you know anything about yorkies let me know that too =) Thank you so much.

In the morning he was bright and active and by lunchtime he was a sleep and when we got home he was still a sleep ! Should I be alarmed or is he beginning to settle in. The last four nights have been rough he begins barking/yelping in the early morning about 1 am and then after that every 2 hours for about 15-25 minutes. Do you think he is really tired today due to four nights of uneven sleeping ? Or should I be getting a vet to check it out ?

Another BIG concern is he has hardly eaten his lunch and will not eat dinner ? Is it because he is tired ?

I have a beautiful rotty, she is so clever and when we are out she is great, and walking home, she is great - but on the way out, she pulls and pulls. It is embarrasing and i get cross with her, which makes me feel guilty also. i have tried treats and the stop method, and she has a choker!! Nothing seams to work! I dread taking her out now!

I have a young lab puppy, and about a week and a half ago i took my pup in to the vet. He was given a distemper shot and also Nemex suspension. two days after the treatment was given, he started developing diarrhea, this lasted for around 3 more days or so, and i did some searching and thought it may just be a side effect. The next day the stools were solid again and i thought things were fine. the day after that it was back to the loose stools, he is straining a lot when he tries to poop, and it seems like small drops just seem to come out, or he sits there and is trying for minutes without anything coming out, I am planning on calling a vet asap, but does anyone have any other advice/recommendations? Is this a side effect? Also i am going to add that the vet i went to didn't mention anything about side effects, or even mention that it might be a possibility or that we should call or anything, so obviously i need to find another ver that actually acts like a professional..... help!

My girlfriend really wants a dog but I can't stand them. They smell, bark a lot, need taking for walks, you have to pick their poo up when they do and they cost loads of money. They can also wreck your furniture or doors by chewing on them. What the hell are the good points?

Two days ago I recovered a scared, starved, dehydrated puppy female puppy from underneath my horse trailer. She is approximately 2-4 months old of an unknown breed (Image is located at http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v702/Insane_Asylum/7.jpg). She has been brought up to a normal eating schedule (Started off slow due to a shrunken stomach) and she has been rehydrated. However, she is now frequently urinating, about every 45 minutes or so. Is this normal with puppies recovering from dehydration or should I be worried? Thanks. :D

Oh, her name is Maybelline and I'm keeping her. No pound for this pup.

I feed my dogs Iams Large Breed Dog Food. I have a 80 pound German Shepherd (male) and a 50 pound Yellow Lab (female) is 2 cups one time a day for each dog really enough food for them? That's the "recommended" amount on the back of the bag, but it just seems that my dogs are so hungry next time they get to eat that the just inhale it.

They are inside dogs but spend part of the day running and playing in the backyard. When in the house they are pretty calm most of the time so I would say their activity level is moderate.

They do not look skinny or anything, they actully look healthy, but I'm just concerned it's not enough food.

My family and I are adopting an American Pit Bull Terrier mix. I've done a lot of research on the breed and I'm familiar with the "cropping" of dogs' ears, but the newest addition to our family has had her ears almost completely removed. The Humane Society explained that it was done by a vet prior to the dog being left at the H.S. but they couldn't give a reason why a vet might do this.

I'm pretty good at guessing myself, but what I'm looking for are credible answers from legitimate sources, so if you're answer would be nothing more than speculation, please don't bother posting. Also, please state your sources. Thank you.

I just got a 6 week old puppy and he just stops and goes where ever he wants. I layed out a puppy pad and everytime he'd go somewhere else I'd bring him to the pad. I even rubbed the pad on some of the spots where he went so he could get the scent on his pee and know where to go. He still doesnt go there. I layed out newspapers in other areas and he wont go on there either. I even bought that stuff to put on the pads and newspapers to lead them to the spot. What do I do?
