i would suggest you to initiate a deal with them (ofcourse, if this is allowed in your house). ask them if they could buy you a dog once you get higher grades in school. most parents would like to give their children a token when we got high grades during exams. and prove them that you are worthy to be given a dog as a reward. good luck!!!

I thought about getting a dog for 10 years before I eventually did. Dogs live for a long time 10-16 years so you have to think that this is not a short term commitment. You are only 13 just now, but soon you will be leaving school and going to work or university, and what will happen to the dog then.
I had a hamster too, but they only live 2-3 years, and don't need as much care, and attention as a dog. If you ignore a dog they get very sad and lonely, and it is simply not fair on them.
What I suggest is think about asking your local kennels or stables if you could work there, and you would getthe fun of working with animals whilst getting paid for it. I wish I had done that instead of working with computers as they are boring.
HAve fun

This is a tricky one, because owning a dog is a big responsibility which affects the whole family. Your parents would have to find the money to buy the dog, pay for its food, bedding, vaccinations and other healthcare, kennel fees when you go on holiday etc. Then a dog makes extra work in the house - (e.g. vacuuming up its hair). I wonder if Mum would consider allowing you to have a dog in the future when (pardon me for saying this, and cover its ears) the hamster has gone to the big cage in the sky? Try asking her that, and if so, what you could do to persuade her! Good luck!

I understand what your going through,as my mum never wanted a dog,i'd been nagging for one sinse i was 2yrs old lol.I now have 2 but it's series work.Your mum proberly feels that after the initial excitement of having a puppy wears off, that you will lose interest and your mum will then be sole carer for it.If your series about wanting a dog, read up on dogs and basic training skills etc,try to include your mum aswell. You have to understand that dogs and esp puppys are very hard work, and that means you will have your hands full.Perhaps your mum is also worried about vets bills, vets can be very pricey,to get pups both there jabs costs £50.Good luck though with whatever happens.

You have to remember that dogs need company and if you and your parents are out most of the day at school or work, it wouldn't be fair on the dog. Also a puppy needs to be trained and I bet you wouldn't be the one getting up at 4 or 5 am to let it out. I know it hard but parents usually have a good reason for not getting an animal, one that has been well though out. Try asking your parents for their reasons.

You ought to write a (really good) essay for school, or just in a "journal" that outlines all of the manythings you love about dogs and how it's your dream to "one day" own such a dog. I would also include in there all of your parents many objections and how you would overcome them. For example, "My mum does not want me to have a dog because she is certain the smell would get to her. But if I had a dog I would bathe it at least once a week." or "Dad thinks a dog would be more of a burden to feed. But if that good man allowed me to have the company of a faithful dog, I would use money from my paper route to buy him dogfood," etc.
Now, mind you, you are not writing this for *them*, it is for school or just for your own personal knowledge. But if you should *happen* to leave it lying around, and they should "happen" to come upon it in a weak moment, you may get that dog!
Best of luck

..A dog really is a massive responsibility. I don't know how old you are,but who would look after him/her when you are at school or work?.They do get sick often, would you be able to pay for the vet bills?would you be able to take time off,Dogs needs are not unlike that of a child.Your parents and every one in the house must also want one. I don't want to sound negative but everybody in the house needs to considered.

Maybe you could give up your hamster. I am sure their is some kid that would be overjoyed to have your hamster. If giving up your hamster does not convince your parents to give you a dog then there must be another reason. You need to know all the reason so you can address them individually.

you would be able to desire to attach his leash on your belt to maintain him from working off, yet a dogs which will act rudely interior the particularly packed confines of a campground isn't the main suitable camping out better half. neither is a camp mate which will poop and pee interior the tent or camper. you may infrequently tie him up outdoors all evening, to bark consistently and do conflict with wild animals passing throughout the campground. given which you have by no potential been camping out earlier, i would not upload the burden of dealing with a miles less-than-completely knowledgeable dogs.
