In the morning he was bright and active and by lunchtime he was a sleep and when we got home he was still a sleep ! Should I be alarmed or is he beginning to settle in. The last four nights have been rough he begins barking/yelping in the early morning about 1 am and then after that every 2 hours for about 15-25 minutes. Do you think he is really tired today due to four nights of uneven sleeping ? Or should I be getting a vet to check it out ?

Another BIG concern is he has hardly eaten his lunch and will not eat dinner ? Is it because he is tired ?

I was going thru the same thing! I just brought home my puppy on Tuesday. She hardly ate at all the first 48 hours. She hardly slept for the first few days (45 min - 1 hour intervals) and now she will sleep for 4-5 hours at a time. She seems to be settling in quite well. Playing, eating... pooping! I took her to the vet on Thursday and she received her first set of shots and she slept ALL afternoon and part of the night.

I would say its a combination of both ideas. He's getting used to her home and sleep schedule AND he's probably tuckered out! I wouldn't call the vet unless hes extremely lathargic. If you can't wake him up easially or he shows no interest in you or anything else while awake. Good Luck!

Give it another day, or so and if you are still concerned, take the dog to the vet.
