This dog is ignored has an instant feeder and no one ever talks to him. He loves attention. He is on logging chain behind chain link fence. If I sneek into the house he barks until I come back out to visit with him. He copies my voice either low barking or high. He sees me and starts hopping and bouncing on all four legs. He looks comical. What else can I do to make his life happy because his owners are only impressed with the fact that he is a white pit bull. I asked if it was okay to visit with him with a dog biscuit and they didn't have a problem with it. I just want to do so much for this obviously magnificent animal

considering adopting a morkie (yorkshire terrier/Maltese) wanted to know if anyone has one, any health concerns, good natured, etc etc. Adopting a pet, which will become a family member, is very important step and I want to be well-informed

I'm dogsitting next week and the owner says she has a 2 year old white yorkie. I've only seen them in tan/greyish colors and was just wondering if purebred yorkies can be white?

what do you think. I think if the dog is not used to it it just causes unnecessary stress would would obviously not be good for her. I am a groomer & have explained this to a client bringing her pregnant dog in for the 1st time but she still insisted on bringing her. I told her I would of course I'd be as gentle as possible & try to make a calm environment for her but cannot be held responsible if anything were to happen. BTW she is an absolute retard i asked how far along the dog was she said she didn't know.. didn't even know how long dogs stay pregnant for etc... I don't like breeders but whats your opinion on this?

I want an apartment dog, but my circumstances and demands are admittedly difficult:

-I have a 9 to 6 job

-I have no experience owning a dog (even though I absolutely love them and go out of my way to walk and care for my friend's dogs)

-I'm a bit of fascist when it comes to dogs, meaning I would like a pure bred. maybe I need to be more flexible here...

-additionally, I'm not fond of toy dogs. again, maybe some flexibility here is needed.

-I particularly love demanding breeds (beagles, Shetland sheepdogs, whippets, greyhounds, basset hounds). All these dogs are social, which I love. but could they withstand an empty apartment for 9 hours.

Although I will be gone for 9 hours, I'm bored out of mind when I get back. I would def. channel all my energy towards the dog when i'm not at work.

so could i make it work with any of those breeds listed above. would it be inhumane.

thanks for any replies.

We have a golden retriever puppy who is 15 1/2 weeks old. We go to the beach 1 or 2 times a week, but only for 15-20 minutes. That is his only walk for the day. He walks calmly on the soft sand, and then on the hard sand he sometimes runs, but not fast. He doesn't go in the sea. Will doing this hurt his joints? I don't want to hurt him! Thank you! :)

My dog hurt her throat on a bone. She started eating and drinking again after a steroid injection at the vet - she now shows signs of wanting to eat - but seems almost scared to eat in case she hurts herself again. Anyone experience the same with their dog?

Ok so i was wondering if anyone out there owns a pibull or has had exsperince with owning one.
Right now i have a boxer. Very friendly, loves ppl, and loves to play with other dogs. He is not even 2 yet but 100% trained so i thought that it would be a good time to get him a playmate.
Ive always wanted a Pitbull...i guess i like the look of them as pitbull and boxers are very strong looking dogs.
Some ppl have bad things to say about pitbulls but i dont agree in all cases. So I was just wondering how loyal this type of dog was, is it trainable, friendly.
Could it be that ppl just dont take the time to train them correctly and could they be a good family dog.
Oh and if there are any laws pertaining to this type of dog in Halifax, as i know Ontario has a ban on them which i think is terrible. But thats just my opinion.
Thanks in advance for everyone advise! :)

If the puppy was taken away from the mother too soon, what can I do for the puppies? Do they take milk? if so what kind of milk? Or what could I do? They are 6 or 7 weeks old and if they are too young to be taken away from their mother, what can I do for them? Any advice would be good.

We're getting ready to move and when our dog was a puppy, she was very stubborn about being potty trained. We would clean up after her, but there is a smell that just won't go away. We now have to get the urine smell out of the carpets to get our deposit back - we've used a Rug Doctor but that only helped with any stains that might have been there, such as drink spills, etc. and didn't really help with the smell. I need something that will work on the smell, whether it's a home remedy or something you can buy at the store. I've tried a couple of products and they don't seem to do the job. HELP!!! I'm desperate...I will even have the carpets professionally cleaned if I need to, but wanted to see if anyone had any good ideas first.

I know that many people say that there is an over population of dogs and cats in animal shelters. But just because there are too many dogs in there it is not a responsible breeders fault. I'm tired of people telling me to get my dogs and cats fixed. But it is natures design for animals reproduce right? And many people come to me to ask when the next litter is due. Now I do not breed for money. It is not even a hobby by a have two pure bred Siberian huskies and nature happens. Many people say that fixing your dog or cat will allow the cat or dog in the shelter. Well I have news for those people many people who want to be a pet owner want a pure bred dog with good temperament and usually want it when they are young so they can train them. And even if I do fix my dogs they will go look some where else. And still not adopt from the shelter.

I have always crated both of my dogs when I leave for work. They never use the bathroom in their cage. Eversince we let one go, my 2 year old husky does her business in the cage. She has never done this. Its so hard to come home from work cleaning up this mess and can you imagine the smell. I dont believe she is sick. Her appetite has been the same and she's been normal but a little sad. What should I do??? Please help

My dog has a lump on his nose?????????
Does anyone one have any experience with this condition. I took him to the vet and she put him on antibiotics. He has been on them for about two months. The lump isn't going away. My dog can't breath in through his nose but he can breath out throught it. At times there is a bloody discharge coming out. He doesn't seem sick or anything, he acts pretty normal, but I am afraid he will eventually get sick. I don't know, but think it may be a tumor. If someone has some experience with this, please give me some advise. Thank You. The lump is right in the middle of his nose inbetween his eyes.

Additional Details

I am taking him back to the Vet. today. I wa told by her that if the meds don't work, it is probably a tumor. If it is, the my dog will need an operation that will leave him so disfigured the he won't even be able to eat normally. Chew
