I bought a morkie In Oct of last year, and she is the best pet
ever. I was worried about buying a mixed breed, cause I prefer
maltese and when I saw the dog I didn't hesitate. My morkie
is 3lbs and isn't going to get any bigger. I paid $900.00 for her
from a breeder and some breeders charge as much for a morkie
as they would a maltese and more. I have talked to alot of
people about the mix and to some it is becoming a breed. All
I can tell you is that they are so beautiful and smart.
They are also easy to train. But if your thinking of breeding a
morkie I would suggest breeding it with another morkie to get
the same result cause if you breed it with a maltese or a yorkie
you will get a second generation morkie which will look like either
a maltese or a yorkie. They to are beautiful but not the same
as a morkie. I hope I was of some help to you.
I just wanted to add also that a yorkie came from the maltese.
so if people want to talk about mixing breeds they should know
the history first.
I went to a dog show last year, and I met a lady who had a dog
that looked just like a maltese, but it was beige, I won't say what
she breed the dog with but there is nothing wrong with mixing.
I respect the other opinions, but as far as my morkie goes. I
wouldn't trade her for anything. She is a doll. She's like a baby
and yet acts really tough. I wouldn't never have bought a morkie
except for the fact that my breeder had one and after I saw one
I knew I had to have one. Good luck and I hope you do end up
with a morkie cause they are very special.

I do, and like so many others, I was hesitant at first, because I like a pure bred dog, however, My Morkie is so smart and special, I wouldn't take anything for him, he is a great lil dog. As for as knowledge about dogs, s to get our so called pure bree dogs , that we have or rather I would say Ignorance, of pure breeds, these dogs were mixed thousands of years ago to get the full breeds we have today. we are in this generation designing new breeds just like way back then, so who can say designer breeds are mutts, are not very knowlegeble about dogs at all, Right. A Rotrweiler for example is a mix between a grayhound and a Doberman pincher. As for shelter dog was put ther for a reason. untrainable, etc.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aUNCp
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

If you truly want to be well-informed: don't buy a mixed breed 'designer dog' - these are scams by unscrupulous people only interested in making money. Mixed breeds in shelters are being euthanized, while they breed more for their personal profit? Just plain WRONG.
Please - either adopt a mixed breed from a shelter & save a life, or get a purebred from a reputable breeder.

A "Morkie" is NOT a breed. It is a mix.Reputable & responsible do not go with someone who delibrately breeds mixes since the delibrate breeding of mixes is irresponsible.
(Also it won't become a breed anytime in the near future either)
As far as health concerns....allergies, hip problems, cataracts, disease of the small intestines, double eyelashes, cartilage issues in the joints, luxating patella, water on the brain, hypoglycemia, intervertabral disc disease just to name a few problems.. Many of these issues are genetic in nature and responsible breeders will test their dogs for these BEFORE ever breeding plus they will thoroughly research pedigrees for health issues as well.
