Yes. You MUST bite him back if you want him to respect you. You should also pee on the dog, to "mark" him as your property. It's ok, the dog will understand.

when the dog bites you hold it's mouth shut lightly (just enough so it can't open it) and tell it to keep it's mouth closed, use the words "no bite", be sure to say good dog after a while, start out with it only being a second gradually increasing until about 5 seconds, this shows the dog that biting is not appropriate with humans as well as getting the dog used to humans handling the mouth for vet visits or if the dog is chewing on something they shouldn't, it's the best training tip I can ever give about dogs nipping

By all means YES. That is what his mama would do to correct that behavior. Treat a canine like a canine. But, you need to bite his muzzle cause that is what caused you pain and that is where the correction needs to be.
When he bites you cry out like it really hurt and bite him back hard enough to make him cry out too. No need to be brutal but be firm. You can also use two finger and hit him on top of his muzzle. If he doesn't sneeze after you pop him you can use a little more force. The stronger his temperament the stronger you need to be with the corrections.

A DOG? NO! A dog is an animal and if it feels like it is in a fight with you it will fight back and possibly tear your face off. You can get into a lot regret if you challenge a full grown animal. Puppies can be taught not to bite by using human discipline .. teach them that you a the alpha but no biting.

If your intelect is equal to the dogs, or in your case maybe less than the dogs, than go ahead and bite back.
These are companion animals and unless you are familiar with the warning signs they give, you can be at risk for being bit. The dogs that bite are usually either poorly trained by the humans responsible for them or injured/sick.
Either way, biting an animal that has sharper teeth than yours probably isn't such a good idea bucko.

Biting is abuse and so is hitting, kicking. Why would you bite him anyway? Some one on Yahoo! Answers bit their dog on the ear and the ear started bleeding. Do you want that to happen to your dog? It isn't worth biting him back.

Yes, bite it on the ear. It lets them know you are the alpha dog. make sure to look them in the eye. They really can smell fear. And get a rabies shot

I know that concept works on children, but not so sure how well that's gonna go over with a dog/puppy...lol. Maybe the Dog Whisperer has the answer.

lmao!! Sure if you want a mouth full of fur!! My vet told me while training my puppy to yelp loudly if she bites too hard. They learn to not bite as hard.So far so good...my puppy learned real fast not to bite us and we didn't have to bite her back...although I did tell her I would. lol
