I'm taking him to puppy socialization classes on Saturdays, play with him (fetch) multiple times a day and we go on walks. He's 15 weeks. Is he going to evenutually mellow out a little?

Boxers are high energy dogs and he's a puppy. That's why people research breeds before they get them. Boxers need lots of training they can be very stubborn and head strong. It takes them longer to grow up then most dogs.My 2 year old still runs around like a puppy. They need thing do or they'll find there own things to do that you might not agree with. Eventually he should settle down, but he'll never be lazy. That's way people pick the breed, for there energy.

I can tell you, that Boxers don't mellow out much. I have a 7 year old Boxer. He is just as active today as when he was 12 weeks old. We walk four days a week, we walk about 3 miles and he's still ready for more when we get in. They are a very high energy dog. and require alot of your time....

I really hate to tell you this but he isn't going to mellow out until he gets around 8 years old. My family has had around 15 boxers at one time and right now we only have 1. His name is Chico and he is around the age of 7 and he runs through the house non stop, always wanting to play, if your trying to sleep he comes in and walks on you trying to get you up with him. Boxers have very high energy and normally don't grow out of that stage until they are much older. The only thing bad about having a boxer is that they don't live very long. Boxers life span is only 7 to 10 years. We just had to put a boxer to sleep last year and he was 11 almost 12 years old and the veterinarian couldn't believe he was that old. He couldn't hardly walk, but at times he still tried to play every chance he got. They are great dogs and I wish you great luck with yours!

A friend of mine had a boxer that up to 9 months old, was the terror of his household. Anyway, he gave her to me because he could not handle her no more. I think the problem was he was not paying attention to her. Puppies are like that so you got to wait till they grow up some. Just like a baby they go from being playful to tearing up things, (teething). At 9 months though I started teaching her tricks. When he saw her two months later, she could roll over, sit, shake her paw on voice or hand command. Of course, you roll the dog over then give her a piece of bologna. Just keep repeating and giving hand cues and soon you will have a smart dog.

I used to have cats so when I got a new kitten I would let her sniff the new kitten and she would not harm it. Of course, all the others (wild or stray) around were dead meat though. lol

A boxer is a high energy dog. They require lots of exercise and plenty of room to run around and play.
Do you have a big yard where he can run around? If not some cities have off leash dog parks. Maybe there is one in your area that you could take the puppy too.

Yes he will definetly mellow out. Him having this much energy is a very good thing it means he is healthy and happy but as he grows older and you discipline him more he will become a very loyal dog as the breed is calm and loyal to family.

hehe, my irish terrier pup was like that but she's almost one now and has calmed down a lot. boxers have a reputation for being energetic and you need to tire him out, give him as much exercise as you can and he'll soon get tired. training him will also stimulate his mind and tire him. when our pup was that age she used to be hyper for an hour so i used to play madly with her or take her for a run and then she'd sleep for an hour then it'd all begin again! don't worry it doesn't take long for them to mellow :)
