My dog has a lump on his nose?????????
Does anyone one have any experience with this condition. I took him to the vet and she put him on antibiotics. He has been on them for about two months. The lump isn't going away. My dog can't breath in through his nose but he can breath out throught it. At times there is a bloody discharge coming out. He doesn't seem sick or anything, he acts pretty normal, but I am afraid he will eventually get sick. I don't know, but think it may be a tumor. If someone has some experience with this, please give me some advise. Thank You. The lump is right in the middle of his nose inbetween his eyes.

I am taking him back to the Vet. today. I wa told by her that if the meds don't work, it is probably a tumor. If it is, the my dog will need an operation that will leave him so disfigured the he won't even be able to eat normally. Chew

Sorry to hear this but glad you are taking him back in. Normally, I would think the vet would do a biopsy first. That is standard.

Because of location this may be a clogged up duct or sinus situation. More of a draining situation and antibiotics. The extent of surgery will depend on whether it is an attached mass or a lump that is free from surrounding tissue and can be easily removed.

Hard to say how much tissue will have to be removed, if any. A good surgeon should be able to remove and not damage the whole face/mouth. That is depending on if it is cancerous and how extensive into the facial tissues.

Dogs and cats are getting all sorts of cancers now. Some are really nasty! Research is finally being done to determine why so much cancer in domesticated animals compared to years ago.

Let's all hope this is a benign growth and can be removed without a lot of tissue damage!!! Please let us know.

It may just be an infection. I had the same problem with my dog, and I found out that it was being caused by her dog dish. It was a porcelain bowl, and apparently it was harboring some bacteria there.

I bought a new stainless steel bowl, kept it clean and dry between meals, and the infections went away.

I had to give her some antibiotics, but the infection kept coming back until I swapped out the bowl

Do you have any snakes or poisonous amphibians near your home? My dogs have been bit by rattlers three times and something similar has happened. Also, your dog may be allergic to bees, and just got stung. Anyway, I definitely wouldn't stop taking it to the vet, as it may have fatal consequences, however I'd consider taking it to a different vet or even a veterinary hospital.

I am so sorry. It does sound like a tumor. but I am not sure about your dog not being able to eat normal. I should be fine.
