As I read most questions posted here about dogs and the problems they are presenting their owners with, I wonder. Has anybody ever heard of APPROPRIATE corrections? If so, why not apply them? When did the IDIOTIC idea of ONLY motivational training ever start? Why have so many people forgotten the fact that we are dealing with dogs that NEED DISCIPLINE in their lives? And finally, do these people realize that WE are filling up the shelters with OUR neurotic behaviors towards our dogs by making them neurotics too?

I have a working cocker spaniel who is nearly three years old. He is very quick learner and a joy to train however, I cannot stop him from eating his own poo!. He does not eat other dog's poo. He does not eat his own poo when we are out walking only in our own garden. I have tried letting him out on an extender lead and once he has done his business bringing him in for a treat and praise - our back door is right by the garden. As soon as I try him off the lead he eats his poos immediately after going - my calls to get him in before he eats it fall on deaf ears!. I have tried standing by him when he is going but it turns into a competition where he will do a little poo and while I am clearing that up he runs to another part of the garden to finish off and eat it! Any ideas!

My dog is a one and a half year old yorkipoo. The lady who I bought him from asid he was potty trained but she lied. He never pees in the house. He always pees when I walk him but he never poops. He always poops indoors and I really need a solution because it's just gross having poop in the house.

Could someone please help me, my 7 month old labrador, gorgeous as she is and happy as she is, she loves people, she loves all the attention, thing is she is getting bigger now and everybody she sees she jumps up at, even if it is a stranger and I try to apologise some people are really nice, some are nasty, and she is only a pup still. But how can I control her not to jump up at everybody, I dont want to have to keep her on the lead when we re at a park as she should be able to run freely. Please could someone help?

My puppy is ruining all her toys. We buy about 5 toys a week for her, and the first day she gets them she breaks them up. Is there any way to get her to stop?
I spend way to much money on my spoiled 7 month old´s toys? Is that wrong?

My dog gave birth to 5 healthy pups on January 4th. She has been to the vet and is in very good health. I spoke with the vet about a calcium supplement that would help her to avoid eclampsia, and he told me to give her Esbilac or Mamalac. Which one is best

My dogs have fleas bad and I have tried everything on the market to rid of them and they just keep getting reinfested, I have used carpet powders and flea bombs and nothing seems to work in the house after I treat the dogs, they just come back.

When my dog came in from outside today, he had a large cut in between his legs. It almost looks like a glass cut or a stab wound. I do not have a lot of money, and was wondering if I could just clean w/ peroxide and use an anti-biotic ointment, or do I need to take him to the vet? The wound doesn't seem to be bothering him that much, he just licks it occasionally.

My brother in law is an exotic animal trainer for show business, and the animals are all trained using just positive reinforcement. The guy who wrote the book says you can't get birds, rats, ostriches, dolphins, killer whales, etc to work for you using force. The animal either won't work or will turn on you.
Marine mammals will drag the trainer underwater if they don't like the training.

So, is the only reason we still use techniques like helicoptering (lifting a dog's front feet off the ground until the dog either passes out or submits), beating (as described by the Koehler method), Alpha rolling, (as performed by the egotistical Cesar Millan,)
on dogs is that dogs will forgive us and still work?

And if a husband hits his wife, and the wife forgives him, does it make it right for the husband to have hit his wife to start with?
