But my Hubby thinks I give him too much attention and that we are going to have serious problems when our 1st baby comes next month.
I was told I couldnt have babies so My Brewski was my baby... until now.

What can we do to help him not be Jealous of the baby?

I guess you never had a close connection with a dog?
They are alot like children and They do get Jealous when you dont get enough attention!

After the baby is born I oviously wont have as much time to spend with my doggy.

HI,
Introduce him to the baby slowly hold the baby on the couch and have him at your feet and don't forget to give him a stroke or two, I let my dog smell the baby when I was comfortable by not hearing her growl at the baby, sometimes they growl at them. I also let her smell the receiving blanket and let her lay with a semi dirty one to get use to the smell.

Dogs and children are natural friends; you could start the bonding even now. My spouse would often let the dog familiarize herself with the womb long before our sons came. If you can get the dog to bark around the womb, your baby may be that much more comfortable after birth. All animals will accept a newborn without prejudice in a family/pack which is a home to love. Sibling rivalry is the result of nest mates being pitted against one another; love them both and natural order will take care of the rest.

Hi there!
The best thing I know to do is buy a baby doll and hold it as much as you can, walking around the house... put it in the crib. Let your dog get used to seeing you hold something else close to you. Hug and kiss the doll. You get the picture.
And when your baby arrives, the dog will only be interested in getting the scent of your baby and you can relay that by letting the dog smell a receiving blanket. And then from the feet of the baby, once you feel that's a safe move.
I wish you good luck on the introductions!
Congratulations on your baby!! :)

The only thing I would add to some of the great answers already given here would be to start NOW adding "baby-type" stuff to your home -- diapers, baby powder, etc. all have distinctive scents and it would be a way to start introducing your dog to the changes that are going to happen. Allow him to have up-close-and-personal sniffing encounters with some of these new things you are bringing home. Show them to him with a very upbeat and positive attitude.

Have faith that you can make this work! Having a baby is a joyful thing and with the right can-do attitude, you can get your dog feeling like the baby is a GOOD thing. Like someone said, children and dogs are natural friends.

I can relate to your dog, because i have a younger sister, so it was kinda like that. Ok, what you need to do is just try to spend equal time with your dog and your baby. Maybe put them together sometimes (with supervision). Or just bring your dog along with you when you're with the baby, so you can pet him and give attention to the baby.

are you implying that your dog will be a sibling to your child? I don't think your dog will give a flying f#$% about your kid until it is old enough to tease the dog.
